Seeking nonfiction book about Gracia Mendes Nasi/Beatrice de Luna Miques
I'm looking for a nonfiction biography or history book that covers the life of Gracia Mendes Nasi, also known as Beatriz or Beatrice de Luna Miques, a Portuguese Jewish philanthropist and businesswoman in the sixteenth century.
Looking for books about women Impressionists
I saw an exhibit on the Impressionists and their immediate artistic successors (e.g., the Nabis) this weekend. It occurred to me that while I've read some basic books on the Impressionists, like Ross King on the decade leading up to Impressionism's birth, I have not read any books on the women Impressionists: Cassat and Morisot for sure, but there was at least one other woman whose paintings appeared in this exhibit. I'd like to fill my TBR for next year with books by and about women, so this seems like a good subject for books.

Austin meetup May 4 (Saturday)
Dear Austin friends, it has been a long time since I've seen your smiling faces. We're in town for the Rhiannon Giddens concert on Thursday night and have Saturday afternoon open. I don't know where a good meetup place would be, but ideally it would be outdoors with a shaded patio for health reasons. Would love to find a good place and see y'all!
Radio East, 3 PM onward. Looking forward to seeing those who can make it!
Seeking leather belt(s) for plus size woman
I'm looking to add a few belts to my wardrobe but I'm having a lot of trouble finding something I'd wear. I have a 41" waist so I'm too large for a lot of women's standard size belts. Requirements under the fold.

Radical Piano
Unveiling Ravenchord: A Radical Piano Redesign from Dan Harden. I'm pretty sure based on the page that this instrument is just a design prototype that hasn't been built. It's absolutely gorgeous to look at; I'd love to hear it played.
Reupholstering vs new sofa in 2023
We have a roughly ten-year old sofa that has been in the "parlor" and used primarily by cats who sit on the back and look out the windows for the last four years. We're ready to move this sofa or a replacement into the den/regular living space as part of a redecoration/overhaul and need to decide what to do.

My city had been pulled down, reduced to parking spaces
Parking Lot Map. This map shows you how much of the downtown land of 50 major US cities is taken up by parking lots . The loser is Arlington, Texas, where 42% of downtown land is taken up by parking. The map comes from the Parking Reform Network, which seems like a balanced part of your recommended daily allowance of urbanist activism.

Your Five-Year Mission, Should You Choose To Accept It
Alter existing suit or buy a new one?
My husband's mother is very ill and we're unfortunately expecting a funeral in the next few months. My husband is in software and has been WFH for years; the last time he had to wear a suit was to my mother's funeral, which was almost five years ago. We had to buy the suit last-minute and have it tailored to fit and we don't want to repeat that experience. My husband's lost a lot of weight so he doesn't have anything in his wardrobe that will fit without extensive alteration.
