Overview
The Cooperative Institute for Meteorological Satellite Studies (CIMSS) and the NOAA Advanced Satellite Products Branch (ASPB) at the University of Wisconsin-Madison have been integral to the scientific community's preparation for Advanced Baseline Imager (ABI) data from GOES-16 (formerly called GOES-R). Since 1999, CIMSS and ASPB have participated in the ABI formulation phase, science and algorithm development, proxy and simulated data generation, product validation, data visualization, education, training, and development of advanced products.
