THE OFF-FARM BENEFITS OF SOIL CONSERVATION IN A HYDROELECTRIC WATERSHED

Douglas Southgate

No 278135, 1986 Annual Meeting, July 27-30, Reno, Nevada from American Agricultural Economics Association (New Name 2008: Agricultural and Applied Economics Association)

Abstract: A dynamic optimization model is used to characterize optimal trends over time in sediment yield from a hydroelectric watershed. Also presented is a simulation model that is used to evaluate the downstream impacts of alternative soil conservation projects proposed for the basin draining into a hydroelectric reservoir in Ecuador.
