Abstract:
The aim of this article is to examine the effect of the real exchange rate misalignment on the economic growth in the Dominican Republic. The paper constructs six measures of exchange rate misalignment. The empirical results indicate that the coefficients for the different measures of RER misalignment are negative in all estimated models and statistically significant in most, which means that a real exchange rate more depreciated has a negative effect on growth long term.
