The Global Partnership for Sustainable Development

Yongfu Huang and M.G. Quibria ()

No wp-2013-057, WIDER Working Paper Series from World Institute for Development Economic Research (UNU-WIDER)

Abstract: This paper examines whether foreign aid, together with other economic, social and environmental factors, contributes to sustainable development. It starts with a theoretical model where sustainable development is modeled as a different kind of growth that protects the environment. Using factor analysis and newly developed estimation methods for a dynamic panel data model with endogenous regressors, the empirical section finds evidence that foreign aid has been a significantly positive influence on sustainable development in aid recipient countries.
