The historic preservation commission shall evaluate and review of the implementation of the city's historic preservation practices, including, but not limited to, reviewing and considering the effects on cultural properties significant on the local, State and/or National level; review and recommend approval or denial of Certificates of Appropriateness; and request information from the Historic Preservation Specialist with regard to on-going inventories or research, preservation planning practices, and the overall status of historic preservation efforts within the city. The historic preservation committee will also advise the city council and staff about other areas of policy and procedures as requested.

The Realize Las Cruces Technical Advisory Committee shall review and advise the Realize Las Cruces Project Team (city staff and consultants) on matters related to revisions to the City’s Land Development Codes and Zoning Map. Assistance may include the following:

  1. Serving as officially appointed land development technical experts for the implementation of city adopted land use and development, subdivision, and growth management policy (i.e., Elevate Las Cruces Comprehensive Plan);
  2. Assisting with technical expertise related to land use, subdivision, drainage, street and transportation network construction, utility system construction, land surveying, civil engineering, and real estate matters;
  3. Reading, reviewing, and commenting on revisions and updates to the Land Development Codes and Zoning Map as subject matter technical experts;
  4. Providing local insights related to land design and development standards and regulations; and
  5. Sharing information with the development community related to Realize Las Cruces.

Advises the City Council on matters affecting veterans and propose solutions to alleviate or remedy the needs of local veterans and to recognize the contributions local veterans have made. The veterans advisory board may organize annual ceremonies to be conducted at the Veterans Memorial Park.
