LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 6, 2024) — University of Kentucky Transportation Services will offer 2025 student spring semester parking permits for sale online and on-site starting at 9 a.m. Dec. 9.

These permit options are for students who do not currently have a parking permit, but need one, or those who chose to purchase a Fall 2024 semester periphery permit, as opposed to the full academic year.

The following permits will be available: commuter periphery (CK), residential periphery (RK) and off-peak (O). To learn more about student parking permits in general, visit https://transportation.uky.edu/

Permits purchased between Dec. 9 and Dec. 19 may be mailed to a home mailing address or picked up in person at the customer service center. Permits purchased after Dec. 19 must be picked up in person.

Students must have their vehicle information available (make, model, color and license plate number) when purchasing a permit.

UK Transportation Services is located at 721 Press Ave. and the office hours are 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. An exterior express window is also available as a pick-up option for pre-ordered permits, from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Allow a minimum of 24 hours from the time of purchase until pick-up.

Students who purchase a permit online over Winter Break may pick it up beginning Jan. 6.

Any outstanding parking citations must be paid before a new permit can be issued. Citations can be paid online, in person or over the phone.

The customer service center will be closed over winter break, from Dec. 25-Jan. 1. Online sales will be available during that time but permit pick-up will not. The office will reopen at 7:30 a.m. Jan. 2.

Spring semester off-peak (O) permits cost $84, while semester residential and commuter periphery permits are $136. For details about respective parking areas, see the daytime student parking map and off-peak parking map.

Spring 2025 permits must be displayed when parking on campus no later than Jan. 13.

Student permit lottery

Students who currently have a residential periphery (RK) or commuter periphery (CK) permit but would like to upgrade to a residential (R) or commuter (C) permit may submit a lottery request online, provided eligibility requirements are met.

Lottery drawings are typically held two to three weeks after the beginning of each semester and notification is sent to lottery winners via email. When joining a waitlist, review the list, ensuring that your number one pick is your top priority.
