Carnegie Mellon University

Welcome to Carnegie Mellon University Literary Press

The literary division of the Carnegie Mellon University Press, founded by Gerald Costanzo, has been publishing for more than 50 years. It was among the first press to publish works by poets who would become Pulitzer Prize winners, including Rita Dove, Ted Kooser, Franz Wright, Stephen Dunn and Peter Balakian.

In 2024, the Carnegie Mellon University Press expanded to include other publishing ventures at the university and through its literary division continues its strong commitment to publishing literary works. Its mission is to amplify both emerging and established voices who bring fresh perspectives to contemporary literature, with a particular focus on poetry, drama, and literary fiction, both in English and in translation.

Carnegie Mellon University Press titles are available to purchase from your local bookstore and from our distributor.
