Foster Youth should not be made homeless because of COVID -19, please give generously to our emergency fund.

Young people who experienced foster care or grew up in the homeless shelters are a unique group of young Americans; many do not have a cohesive, stable support system that can help them when they are in need. Too often they are left behind by systems and programs that are developed to help them transition to adulthood because it isn’t the right fit at the right time. Nationwide, many are trapped in low wage jobs that are not stable and do not offer a path forward. Daily we hear from these young adults, their hours are cut so they can’t pay a rent or make a car payment this month. In addition to the daily struggles, they are deprived of the little joys that many take for granted.

We must do more and do DIFFERENT.

These young adults are doing the best they can without parental help, for them, it’s one step forward, one or two steps back. Not only do they need an emergency safety net, many need support and guidance to help them identify the right career or technical training program that will lead to their success in the workplace and in their daily life.
