International Teaching Assistant Program

ITA Program

The ITA Program is designed to prepare graduate students who are non-native English speakers to take on teaching assistantships, including grading, holding office hours, leading discussion or lab sections, or teaching a class. Spoken English classes, ITA Seminars, and classroom observations help ITAs refine their skills.

In order to receive the benefits of a Graduate Teaching Assistant position, ITA Clearance is required.

To prepare for their TA roles, students must meet two requirements.

  1. Successful completion of ITA Training
  2. ITAP Spoken English Proficiency
