An Alabama State Trooper takes Archie over the Edmond Pettus Bridge on the way to Archie's mother's viewing. But the bridge he goes over has two sets of two steel arches, and is flat allowing one to see the other side of the bridge from the far side. The real Pettus Bridge is only one arch and has a rise in the middle which prevents one from seeing the other side from the far side. When protesters marched across it in 1965, film shows them come over the horizon of the bridge from the vantage point of the camera. Conversely, the marchers could not see what awaited them when they started to cross, and could only see the police waiting for them at the end of the bridge as they reached the middle of the bridge.
