A new year, a new build! Slightly behind the initial schedule, but here goes Sphinx 3.0.2, with a few bugfixes, somewhat optimized RT inserts, and last but not least FreeBSD builds.
This is mostly a bugfix release; the only “real” new feature is a new ranking factor, full_field_hit
. However, at least one of the bugs could possibly cause rather rare, but quite annoying (and quite hard to detect) crashes and data corruption, so updating from 3.0.1 is definitely recommended.
Also in the news, recently I’ve been rather swamped with yet another round of health issues, again (aaargh), and actually still am. So right now both my Sphinx and personal inboxes are quite piled up as a result. Thus I would like to take this opportunity to apologize, again, if I did not (or will not) follow up on email timely. Un-piling those scary inboxes is of course on the agenda and I will very likely boast here when/if I manage that again.
On the bright side, despite that, current progress on 4.0 (new efficient and fully-RT format) is looking quite good. I would say it is now 90% functionally complete, so if everyone goes well, we’ll go to battle testing reasonably soon, and maybe even manage to reach production in Q2.
Well, fingers crossed, on all fronts.
