Nasim's interrogators had threatened her with the death penalty and she had to wait nearly 500 days to find out her fate.

“In the last 15 years I’ve had very much to do with interrogators, the censors, the judicial system and the security apparatus of Iran,” Rasoulof says.

The military interrogators asked them questions about their work in environmental justice, and accused them of being communists.

Her interrogators also accused her of working for the US.

A lawyer for Mr Gwenzi, a local councillor and human rights activist, had also described how his client's interrogators had threatened to harm his family.
