What is Construction Management?

 

The Bachelor of Science (BS) program in construction management at the University of Wyoming is accredited by the American Council of Construction Education. All students participating in the program will receive accredited degrees.

Construction management (CM) is the study of what it takes to complete large and small vertical and horizontal construction projects using specialized project management techniques to oversee the planning, design and construction of a project from beginning to end.

Relying heavily on active learning that includes field trips, site visits, team projects and internships, UW’s program builds on courses in construction management, business, communications, engineering and design, while also stressing Building Information Modeling (BIM), the state-of-the-art 3-D virtual modeling systems professionals use to design and manage today’s building projects.

This very practical degree program prepares you to enter a rapidly growing industry equipped with real-world, cutting-edge skills.

The Latest Software

One of the amazing aspects of the College of Engineering and Physical Sciences is the career services we have geared toward our students. Students can make an appointment with one of our career professionals, locate the SOAR platform, and view resources that are vital to success in the field.

Scholarships

The College of Engineering and Physical Sciences offers 300-plus merit scholarships a year.

 

Construction Management is an applied degree, with many options for graduates to select from when they graduate. The CM has experienced a 100% placement of its graduates before graduating with an annual mean starting salary of $71, 692 a year. Another benefit of the CM program at UW is that CM students graduate with a total of 6 industry recognized credentials that is integrated into their curriculum design, these industry credentials are “Procore certificate, OSHA 30-hour safety certificate, Leed certificate, Home Buyers Certificate, AIC certificate and DBIA certificate”. According to the Bureau of Labor statistics, the US construction sector will experience an annual growth rate of 10% over the next decade, that will greatly support employment of young talent entering the industry.
