Your Tartan Life
At Carnegie Mellon, what you do outside of the classroom is just as important as what you do inside. The relationships you build, the lessons you learn and the opportunities you embrace as an active member of the campus community will shape your future. The person you become starts here.

Housing
First-year students are required to live on campus and are guaranteed university housing(opens in new window). After you enroll at Carnegie Mellon, you'll receive more detailed information and gain access to the online housing application. On your housing application, you'll not only indicate your residence hall preferences, but also answer several questions that will help us match you with a roommate. Housing assignments will be made at random, without regard to the admission deposit date.
You can find more information about first-year housing options and how to apply for housing on the Housing Services and Residential Education website(opens in new window). You can even take virtual tours(opens in new window) of all the residence halls and room types!
