Regardless of how it’s labeled, at the end of the season, I take my container mums and either put them directly in the ground, or I plant them in my raised bed garden over the winter until I can find a spot for them in the spring. In colder climates, cut it down to the ground and cover it with a good layer of straw or leaf mulch to protect them over the winter. It will come back bigger and better every year! The very best thing for the health and longevity of your Mums is to repot it. I have seen all of the hacks. I’m watering and soaking and it doesn’t address the main issue. If you don’t have enough soil to retain the moisture, it’s not going to help long-term. Repotting your mum in an even slightly larger pot will  help tremendously.
