Tenders are to be called in early April on a $3-million expansion at the Davidson Centre gymnasium in Kincardine, Ont. Designed by Strasman Architects Inc., the 30,000 square-foot addition will accommodate a full college-sized basketball court, suspended indoor walking track and 3,000 square feet of storage space.
The second floor will house a warm viewing area from which spectators can watch hockey games through new windows looking into the arena as well as basketball games in the gymnasium below.
Consultants include structural engineers Brown & Co. Engineering Ltd., mechanical engineers Aegis Engineering Ltd., electrical engineers e-Lumen International Inc., and civil engineers Skelton, Brumwell & Associates Inc.
A construction contract is to be awarded by the end of April. Funding is being provided by the three levels of government.
