Anah

Hebrew: עֲנָה —transliteration: Anah —meaning: to sing

This is the name of 2 biblical men, both Horites.

1. Anah, a chief and son of Seir

   He is one of the sons of Seir, and head of an Idumean tribe. He is called a Horite (cave-dweller), as in course of time all branches of this tribe were called because they lived in caves in Mount Seir (Genesis 36:20; 36:29; 1 Chronicles 1:38).

   His brothers are Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Dishon, Ezer and Dishan.

2. Anah, son of Zibeon

   He is one of the two sons of Zibeon the Horite. Anah is the father of Esau’s wife Aholibamah (Genesis 36:18) who became the matriarch of 3 Edomite tribes.
