Who is…
Erastus

Greek: Ἔραστος —transliteration: Erastos —meaning: beloved

This is the name of 1 or 2 Biblical men.

  1. Erastus, the city treasurer

He was the treasurer (“chamberlain” Romans 16:23 KJV) of the city of Corinth, and one of the Apostle Paul’s disciples.

Gaius, host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer greets you, and Quartus, the brother. Romans 16:23 LSB

As treasurer of such a large and important city, he was a public officer of great dignity, and his conversion to the Gospel was accordingly a proof of the wonderful success of the apostle’s labors.

  2. Erastus, a companion of Paul

This man is mentioned as a companion of Paul at Ephesus, who was sent by him along with Timothy into Macedonia.

And having sent into Macedonia two of those who ministered to him, Timothy and Erastus, he himself stayed in Asia for a while. Acts 19:22 LSB

Erastus remained at Corinth, but Trophimus I left sick at Miletus. 2 Timothy 4:20 LSB

Corinth was apparently Erastus’ usual place of abode, so he could possibly be the same Erastus as mentioned in Acts.
