Gershon

He is the the eldest of Levi’s three sons (Genesis 46:11; Exodus 6:16). Their paternal grandfather is Jacob/Israel.

In the wilderness wonderings after the Exodus, the sons of Gershon had charge of the fabrics of the tabernacle when it was moved from place to place, the curtains, veils, tent-hangings (Numbers 3:21-26).

Thirteen Levitical cities were provided to the Gershonite Levites among tribes of Israel as determined by cast lots (Joshua 21:27-33).
