 Not done. The file is temporarily protected, because it is used in zh.wiki main page. This page is cascade-protected, which means: we in Commons can nothing to do. You have four options. At first, you can talk in zh.wiki to remove the file from main page. At second, you can simple wait, until zh.wiki main page content is altered and the file isn't anymore on main page (probably one week). At third, you can upload bigger version under new name. Not to argue about the ruling itself, but about Taivo’s rhetoric. Commons is independent of Wikipedia in its internal processes, protection included. The statement “we in Commons can nothing to do” is simply and blatantly false. The cascade protection of Iosurface_gal.jpg is not directly because it resides on zh.Wikipedia’s main page, but because KrinkleBot (talk · contribs) included it into Commons:Auto-protected files/wikipedia/zh which has permanent cascade protection. Bart Versieck is blocked infinite at the dutch Wikipedia. I placed a picture of myself in the photoalbum on NL-Wikipedia that Bart Versieck follows. The image is already 10-11 years on Commons and is also used in an article on NL-Wikipedia. Bart Versieck goes to Commons and changes the description and reverts me when I turned it back and more. This is the same behaviour why he is blocked infinite on the NL-Wikipedia. I gave a little warning, but now a "new" user suddenly agrees with Versieck, a user with no edits, only the first direct on this file. That must be Versieck himself. See: edits. Please check this. picture needs to be taken out

Hi, the privacy rules have changed in pictures of people. I uploaded a picture when i was younger. It shows a lady i do not know. I tried to log back in but it didnt work. i cant find my log in info and non of my emai adresses works when i ask to reset the password, say I do not receive mails from wikicommons.

Son personas que critican mucho y contribuyen poco a otras, muy reactivos y poco proactivos, en Wikipedia hay bastantes imágenes que no llevan el mismo "rigor" de censura como se aplica a imágenes que tienen que son base o tiene que ver con artículos políticos o filosóficos, que no son supuestamente "neutrales", se toma la neutralidad como atacar todo lo que no sea de sea centro, o todo lo que sea de izquierda, afortunadamente también hay artículos muy buenos y moderados y wikipedistas que hacen su trabajo, pero encontrar expresiones similares a que haga bien su trabajo porque no vamos a estar detrás recogiendo o corrigiéndole los artículos, o recordar que solo se dejen subir temas de interés enciclopédico o con derechos de autor acordes a la licencie GNL, dejan mucho que pensar sobre quienes hacen esas publicaciones o recomendaciones, primero que toman su actividad voluntaria como una forma de prestigio o subir su ego, tanto que llegan a tratar al resto como si fueran sus empleados o subordinados, claro, dice el manual hay que llenarse también de paciencia con ellos, pero parecen mas "policías" de derecha del mundo real, liberados y sin control en el mundo virtual, con un bolillo en la mano y una comparendera a ver a quien multan, o a quien le dan bolillo o le violan sus derechos impunemente, amparados en su propia interpretación de ley o en la excusa que deben aplicar la norma para mantener el orden, lo mejor es que uno ve sus historiales y solo encuentra contribuciones que en lo personal no debería ir en una enciclopedia sino en una revista de variedades, y así se atreven a criticar todo lo político que se sube, directa o indirectamente porque una imagen dice mas que mil palabras, y buscar acabar con las imágenes, con los símbolos, es una forma de callar o impedir la impresión que una persona pueda obtener para aprender, se presume la buena fe, pero cuando no contribuyen en el objetivo y propósito fundamental que es hacer crecer el conocimiento colectivo, sino que frenan, restringen, esa buena fe podríamos decir por lo menos está viciada de ignorancia. Sobre el caso particular de cada imagen, es cierto he subido varias imágenes y una a una las han ido quitando, censurando, alegando violación de copyright, algo sumamente normal, no es para asesinar a nadie, o aprovechar para liberar traumas reprimidos del respeto a las normas y el orden, lo mas apropiado sería remplazar la imagen inapropiada por otra mas apropiada, eso sería contribuir, pero no, la quitan y dan los artículos, los mutilan, los sabotean, no imagino si ellos mismos harían algo así con sus propios artículos (que en realidad no son de todos o de nadie), no lo creo, antes de automutilarsen buscan un remplazo, aquí no se ve esa buena fe, sino una sistematicidad en quitar y enviar notificaciones como un editor derechista de una prensa vieja y obsoleta que mira al resto como su subordinados y le tira el trabajo en la cara diciendo "eso no sirve", traiga otra cosa que sirva o váyase, así tratan a los wikipedistas que creen violan las normas, como una forma de corregirlos, de hacer mejor wikipedia, cuando es apenas obvio que lo que logran es todo lo contrario, destruir y sabotear los intentos de construcción de conocimiento colectivo, si no sirve la imagen de un artículo, aprovechen, suban otra que sirva, colaboren, pero a veces ni siquiera necesitan otra porque muchas veces son los datos o la información la que está mal, se cataloga mal y es un error común, entonces una persona experimentada puede detectarlo y corregirlo, y no comportarsen como "policías" de Wikipedia, o como "manadas" tan de moda hoy en día donde solo con uno que tome la iniciativa de atacar o agredir los demás van llegando para continuar, bajo la excusa que tienen derecho a hacerlo o que las normas van a protegerlos, del primer comentario, llega el segundo, luego el tercero dice van dos y el cuarto llega y dice, a manera de amenaza siempre, van tres, no faltar que llegue el cuarto o el quinto porque la cobardía no actúa sola, siempre busca cómplices neutrales, igual es su tiempo el que pierden en actividades tan poco enriquecedoras para el espíritu pero es la falta de conocimiento el que los ha llevado de una u otra forma a ello Yurilizarazo (talk) 22:43, 15 January 2019 (UTC)

It is the reaction which is fine here, and with respect to its speed only. For the record, 1.47.232.181 (talk • contribs • WHOIS • RBL • tools • luxo's • crossblock • block user • block log made a single edit on Commons, apparently caused by the same stupid gadget that forms a half of edit history for MediaWiki_talk:Gadget-RenameLink.js. How did Hedwig_in_Washington infer that Aseen_xhan—most probably a guy from the Middle East or Pakistan—is identical to the IP from Bangkok who edited three weeks later? Hello, I think we have new socks to be added to the long serie of account created by the blocked user Rolando Yñigo Genio, including :

These new suspected socks are :

  • ElSeñorDeLaNoche
  • ElHeraldoMayor
  • CondeDeBuenosAires

The new accounts keep, as the previous did, uploading fictionnal coat of arms related to Rolando Ynigo Genio and his invented familial arms.

The first contribution of "ElHeraldoMayor" was to reupload his previously deleted arms. The second upload of ElSeñorDeLaNoche was another svg version of this invented arms. His other edits were related with the other inigo families, the last ones ([4] and [5]) were to upload a svg part of a png file uploaded by the sock ScolopendraJazz, ignoring com:crop and creating a duplicate.

The "condedebuenosaires" has uploaded exactly the same version of the "Coat of Arms von Braun" as rynigogenio's deviantart on the same day (aug 22, 2015). A large part of their activity is related with the files of the previous socks ([6], [7]).

Several files by "ElSeñorDeLaNoche" have been uploaded on Yñigo-genio deviant art page : [8] => [9]. There is also a pattern of co-edition of files by "ElSeñorDeLaNoche" and "ElHeraldoMayor" ([10] and [11]).

The user is once again using multiple accounts at the same time to evade the previous blocks : ElSeñorDeLaNoche uploaded a file two weeks ago, CondeDeBuenosAires overwrote a bunch of files last week and ElHeraldoMayor some more yesterday.

Usabaseball

Usabaseball (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · edit filter log · block user · block log) appears/claims to be an SPA/"corporate" role account for USA Baseball. They've been blocked on enwiki for the username violation, but it's not clear to me whether they are to be blocked here as well, based on Commons:Username policy#Inappropriate usernames and Commons:Role account.

They uploaded 21 files (which are used at USA Baseball), all but one being logos for (and presumably copyrighted by) the organization, claiming the source as "own work" ({{self|cc-by-sa-4.0}}). However, as I understand it, "own work" should only apply to an individual, right?

I don't know enough about policy and process to be able to guide the organization through this, and I don't want to end up leading them down the wrong path. If you wish credit, then you can add your name too. We have composite derived works that may have many different photographers and digital editors credited in the attribution. Icon flag

Would someone be willing to block User:Icon flag for uploading nothing, or nearly nothing, but errors? The user's been marking a large number of correct versions of national flags as erroneous and uploading replacements that are distinctly not correct; except for a warning from another user, his whole talk page consists of deletion nominations. For an example, see his upload File:Flag of Fiji, vertical.svg, which definitely is not the same as File:Flag of Fiji.svg rotated so that it's vertical. You may have noticed the vertical flags of Serbia: Flags of the World, VectorStock and eBay.
What concerns vertical flags of Australia, Fiji, New Zealand and Tuvalu, the Union Jack is not symmetrical, so please, look at the file Vertical Flag of the United Kingdom.svg, especially the saltires.
In the case of Belarus etc., everyone should know, that the upper colour in the horizontal flag is on the left in the vertical flag: Signo and Deposit photos.
At the end, what is that erroneous Flag of Slovenia (vertical).png? Should be like in VectorStock, i.e. Flag of Slovenia, vertical.svg. Remember, the upper colour in the horizontal flag is on the left in the vertical flag, like e.g. in the Flag of Slovakia vertical.svg. RainbowSilver2ndBackup has made unconstructive edits to the file:Flag of Serbia, vertical.svg by using the old-designed coat of arms (until 2010). His edits appear to constitute vandalism and have been reverted. Repeated vandalism may result in the loss of editing privileges.
He doesn't seem to know, that the current form of the flag was officially adopted on 11 November 2010, when the coat of arms of Serbia slightly redesigned.
RainbowSilver2ndBackup is also not obviously aware, that the coat of arms is placed horizontally also on the vertical flag as well, e.g. the file:Flag of Slovakia vertical.svg.
Needless to say, that the files Flag of Serbia (vertical).svg and Flag of Serbia hv.svg are incorrect.

@Nyttend: Could it be possible that they are correct here? I can't imagine a country's flag code calling for displaying a vertical flag with an emblem not right way up. While I understand your thoughts that "vertical" just means turned that is not always the case. While it is the case where there are just colors an emblem complicates things. I hereby report an irrational personal hostile behavior.

Jeff G. has nominated my all of uploaded images for deletion (mass deletion without pre-warning). Ettela'at Newspaper on Black Friday.jpg is a newspaper that published 40 years ago and today is in public domain or file File:Googoosh, Playing tennis 1970s.jpg that have been developed by other users has been nominated for deletion.

Jeff G. tries to make it a personal and self interest subject.

I reckon when he couldn't block my access to Wikimedia Commons he is trying to delete all of my uploaded files.

Please refer to my and his page to review all of our conversation history.

I should add that at the beginning of files uploading, I was not familiar with the system. But after April 2016 there was no problem. In 2017 I had just 1 deletion and in 2018 there were 4 files (I accept I made a mistake about this 4 files and apologize for that).

Again Jeff G. has made it a personal and self interest subject. He has gone over Wikimedia Commons policies.

Every body can refer to it and read the date. file:Mehdi Bazargan - School Graduation.jpg's date is 1928. How about file:Iran hostage crisis - November 1979.jpg? file:Institute for the Intellectual Development of Children and Young Adults 1965.jpg desgined and published in 1965. Indefblock for Slowking4 (review)

The thread Commons:Administrators'_noticeboard/User_problems #Slowking4 is closed by Pi.1415926535 with the resolution “I have blocked Slowking4 for a period of three months” (emphasis by Incnis Mrsi). Today the same sysop upgraded the block to indefinite block without user_talk and Email access. While stripping Slowking4 of his user_talk was provoked by edit warring, the other two changes are arbitrary. To me, it seems that Pi.1415926535 treats Slowking4 as a banned user and the new block serves nothing but promotion of sock puppetry. There was no consensus that Slowking4 should be banned from Wikimedia Commons. Incnis Mrsi (talk) 09:11, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

I agree that an indef removal of talk page and email privileges is extreme, I do not agree that it is the only solution. The order of events was:

  1. diff ArchiverBot archived the block related thread, including the notice and appeal.
  2. diff Pi.1415926535 reverted the bot, with the comment "restore block thread with 90-day sticky", presumably intending for the thread to stay visible for 90 days (the period of the block).
  3. diff Slowking4 reverted the change, apparently preferring the block thread discussion to close and remain archived.
  4. diff Jeff G. re-reverted to restore the block thread, commenting "That doesn't address your block".
  5. diff Slowking4 second reverts, commenting "you want to grave dance, first block talk editing".
  6. diff Pi.1415926535 second reverts, commenting "as you wish".

The Commons norm is to only remove talk page access for extreme cases, such as harassment of other contributors or highly disruptive material. The norm for removing email access is even less often seen, and my understanding is that it should only be done in cases where there are complaints about email misuse, rarely as a precaution and never as a punishment. Examining the above diffs, Slowking4's actions in reverting others was misguided, but Jeff G.'s comment makes little sense either as it was clear that Slowking4 was effectively done with their block appeal by wanting to leave it archived and we are aware that Jeff G. is involved as the primary complainant in the decision to block Slowking4, so actions they take on Slowking4's user talk page are likely to appear confrontational. Pi.1415926535 has made no comment in the block thread about their extension of the block to removing talk page and email access, this seems an error as it does require explanation.

As a complainant about Slowking4's behaviour, I would prefer every reasonable step taken to allow Slowking4 return to making collegiate contributions. I recommend that the talk page access and email rights are restored, without others being worried about whether Slowking4 archives the discussion or not. If Slowking4 no longer wishes to appeal the notified 3 month block, that is their call, nobody else has the authority to make appeals on their behalf, and there is nothing in our policies or guidelines that makes letting a block notice on your own talk page remain archived inappropriate. We have many cases of blocked users not only discussing their block, but also asking for help responding to other issues while they are blocked, such as commenting on DR notifications left on their page for their own uploads. If you have a Wikimedia Commons policy in mind that you believes supports this rationale for removing talk page access, please provide a link.
Similarly "notices are supposed to remain on user talk pages of blocked users for the duration of their blocks" is new for me. Again I believe we can provide examples where blocked users had the block notices archive away automatically and nobody cared. If you believe this is required by policy, please provide a link. Yes, that specific "unblock declined" notice does state that and stated something similar back in 2006 when Nilfanion created it. However block notices do not, neither does the blocking policy. To be honest, this appears to be someone being a bit overzealous in the unblock request template rubric, as it should not overreach what policy states. The block notices are not agreed by community consensus.
In the light of some significant block cases over the last couple of years, including cases where block discussions were blanked as a courtesy, the community could do with revisiting these templates and the process we follow. The community's views on how blocks can be avoided and especially how escalation is to be avoided and reform encouraged, has matured. In particular blocks are not punishments and our wording around them are worth reviewing to ensure people with blocks are treated well and in a non-hostile way. A blocked user having talk page access removed, is getting an equivalent to "you are banned, go away" message, we should take every reasonable step to avoid that happening.
Slowking4 can be sarcastic and at times toxic, they are hardly the worst type of disruptive user we have seen in the last few years and an effective ban at this point is excessive. Let's allow this to play out a bit nicer. --Fæ (talk) 10:38, 8 April 2019 (UTC)

Slowking is blocked for a minimum of three months (for that block the unblock requst has been declined), if he wants to contribute again he has to file a unblock request after three months (if he promises not to do so again, etc.). I extended the block to indefinite (which I noted in my initial block that I reserved the right to do should he show no interest in changing behavior) and removed talk page access because his sole edits have been to file a ridiculous unblock request that indicates no understanding of why he was blocked, and to edit war to re-remove the block notice from his talk page. (That latter issue came about because his talk page has a one-day bot archive - which he implemented entirely out of spite, as was noted in the AN/U thread.) It is quite clear that he currently has no intention of changing his behavior; if he has an honest change of heart, he can wait out the 90 days or use UTRS, and I will be listening. Collinsa2016 was blocked on 2018-02-10. The day after, he attempted to appeal his Commons block in a series of misplaced edits on Spanish Wikipedia at es:Special:Diff/102898314/105520901 and es:Special:Diff/105521120. Two more days later, on 2018-02-13, the sockpuppet was created. The main account's last edit on any project was es:Special:Diff/106377400 on the sockpuppet's Spanish Wikipedia user talk page. An earlier version of the sockpuppet's Spanish Wikipedia user page gave the same personal details as the user pages for Collinsa2016 on multiple projects including Commons and Spanish Wikipedia. What you should have done is to read the information that was provided on the user talk page of your original account. As also explained there, you could then have made a request to be unblocked, demonstrating that you understood the reasons for the block and making a commitment to stop doing the things that you were blocked for. Humanist920 - multi-Wiki disruption

I am an admin on en.wikipedia and recently blocked an IP for ban evasion. Behavioral evidence indicated that the user was a sockpuppet of en:User:Banana19208, who also used the account en:User:Humanist920.

Today, User:Humanist920 on Commons vandalized my user page [16] and user talk page [17]. The most likely explanation is that the same user is continuing their campaign of disruption and has moved to Commons to avoid the sanctions already placed on them at en.wiki. Sockpuppetry by 79.71.253.248, 92.3.98.235, TH223

The two IPs are the same user who has made twothree unsigned !votes in Commons:Deletion requests/File:The first sounds ever recorded complete set.ogg.

This is[The two IPs are] an LTA blocked user known as "Shingling334" on English Wikipedia: en:Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Shingling334/Archive. 92.3.98.235 has repeated edits of 79.71.253.248, see: [18] and [19].

They have been edit-warring from multiple IPs on en:Phonautograph trying to add this file, which has copyright issues. That page has now been protected. 79.71.253.248 has edited it directly, while 92.3.98.235 is in the same range as 92.3.110.170 which has also.

I'm not sure if I should strike one or both of their comments in the deletion discussion?

It seems likely[possible (see below)] that the uploader of the file, TH223, is also the same user. On the Phonautograph talk page, an obvious sock of Shingling334 (editing via a proxy) asks for help creating the file: [20]. --IamNotU (talk) 11:34, 23 May 2019 (UTC)

I don't have anything special to offer here. The IPs' information is visible to everyone and clearly related. There is also currently no evidence whatsoever that TH223 is editing whilst logged out; indeed, that account is not in the en.wiki SPI, as the comment above wrongly implies. TH223 1) has not edited the DR; 2) did not add the file to en:Phonautograph (where the IPs are edit warring with IamNotU); and 3) has never even edited article space at any project (!!!) Accordingly, there is currently no reason to believe they would log out to act inappropriately in spaces where their comments would be perfectly valid (Commons DR) and where they've never before edited (en.wiki article space). Sockpuppetry is, by definition, the abusive use of multiple accounts; an accusation thereof is thus inherently one of bad faith.   • elcobbola, thanks for responding, and for the time you spent looking into it. You are completely correct that user TH223 has not been discussed on English Wikipedia. I'm not sure what part of my comment above implies that, but it wasn't my intention, so I am sorry about that. Also, after your feedback I reviewed my assessment, and it seems I may have made one mistake. The subtitles on the file were clearly added by Shingling334 according to evidence on Wikipedia. When I looked at the file history, there is only one record, the initial upload, and no record of a subsequent modification. I had assumed then, that it was uploaded with the subtitles already included, and thus, clearly by Shingling334. I was not aware of the "timed text" feature that is in another tab, with a separate history, where I've now discovered Shingling334's edits adding the subtitles an hour or so later. So again I'm sorry about that.
Nevertheless, I wouldn't say that there is no evidence whatsoever about TH223. The username is similar to confirmed Shingling334 sock TS422, which is also editing the same "phonautograph" article and files on Turkish Wikipedia: [24]. There is some name similarity to Editor.TH. Shingling334 has a long history of using throw-away sock accounts, dynamic IPs, and proxies, all at the same time. He had tried unsuccessfully to add a similar file to the article, and had he wanted to upload this one, he would have been motivated to cover his tracks with sock accounts or proxy IPs. On 11 May, within a span of about ten minutes, the TH223 account was created and the file uploaded to Commons, and that was the only thing that account has ever done. Less than 30 minutes later it was added to the Wikipedia article by a proxy IP, and then just one hour later Shingling334 (as 79.71.244.147) added the subtitles. Evidence in SPI cases isn't always completely clear, and according to the "duck" principle, I still think there's enough here to warrant me at least mentioning it for consideration in an investigation, without it being bad faith on my part. If you don't feel that looking into it is justified, then that's not a problem. In the meantime, I've tried to clarify what I meant above, and "downgraded" my assessment of TH223.
That the two IPs listed above are Shingling334 though, and are evading a block on Commons, is beyond any question. And to that I will add Special:Contributions/79.71.244.147. However, that relies in part on evidence from Wikipedia. As I understand, evidence of wrongdoing on another Wiki can't be used in a complaint against someone, but it's permitted to consider evidence in terms of linking accounts and identities. Am I wrong about that? If not, then is it usual practice to allow an obvious sock of a blocked user to comment in a deletion discussion? I would think all their comments would be removed, and their IPs blocked. Am I to understand that no further action will be taken, and he is free to edit here?
I suppose it could seem that I'm trying to influence the deletion discussion by removing Shingling334's "keep" !votes, but I don't feel I have any need or motivation to, as there doesn't seem to be any valid argument behind them. I think the file will be deleted either way, because I think it's the right thing to do, but either way it isn't that important to me. I'm just reporting a case of block evasion/sockpuppetry, which I think people shouldn't be allowed to get away with.
I would very much appreciate it though, if Shingling334's personal comment about me could be removed, as I can assure you there is no basis for it, and I honestly feel that it is harassment, designed to make people question my integrity. I like to think that I have a reputation as a careful and conscientious editor, and that reputation is important to me.
