Italiano: STORIA VENETA – 128: 1669 – PER L’ISOLA DI CANDIA SI AVVICINA LA FINE. VENEZIA RESTA SOLA! “Il duca di Navailles intanto deliberato avea di partire per Francia con la sua gente; del che avvertito il Morosini, conoscendo egli che cotale abbandono avrebbe trascinato seco la perdita di ogni cura e fatica fino allor sostenuta, deliberò pregare tutti gli altri generali che trovavansi alla Standia di recarsi tosto in Candia, affinchè uniti trovassero modo di far tor giù il Navailles dal suo proposito: senonchè non valendo nè preghiere, nè ragioni a persuaderlo, Jacopo Contarini Duca di Candia, fece che i magistrati della città, col clero dell’uno e dell’altro rito, solennemente si recassero ad esso … “.
