"Metabolic Pathway Pairwise-Based Signature as a Potential Non-Invasive Diagnostic Marker in Alzheimer's Disease Patients," Yunwen FengXingyu ChenXiaohua Douglas ZhangChen Huang

Abstract: Alzheimer's disease (AD) is an incurable neurodegenerative disorder. Early screening, particularly in blood plasma, has been demonstrated as a promising approach to the diagnosis and prevention of AD. In addition, metabolic dysfunction has been demonstrated to be closely related to AD, which might be reflected in the whole blood transcriptome. Hence, we hypothesized that the establishment of a diagnostic model based on the metabolic signatures of blood is a workable strategy.

Conclusion: Overall, our study successfully established a novel metabolism-based scoring system for AD diagnosis using the blood transcriptome and provided new insight into the molecular mechanism of metabolic dysfunction implicated in AD.

"Stressors Associated with Tobacco Use Among Trans Women - PubMed (nih.gov)" Rachel E CulbrethLaura F SalazarClaire A SpearsRichard CrosbyMatthew J HayatDawn M Aycock

Abstract: Tobacco use is prevalent among sexual and gender minorities (SGM), yet few studies have examined the specific drivers of tobacco use among trans women. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of proximal, distal, and structural stressors associated with tobacco use among trans women.

Conclusion: Among trans women, tobacco use prevalence was high. Tobacco use was associated with homelessness, intimate partner violence, and commercial sex work. Targeted tobacco cessation programs should account for the co-occurring stressors that trans women face.

"Implementation of Nurse Navigation Improves Rate of Molecular Tumor Testing for Ovarian Cancer in a Gynecologic Oncology Practice," Taylor A RivesHeather PavlikNing LiLien QasrawiDonglin YanJustine PickarskiCharles S DietrichRachel W MillerFrederick R UelandJill M Kolesar

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to assess the impact of implementing a Nurse Navigator (NN) to improve the rate and timeliness of molecular tumor testing.

Conclusion: NNs significantly improved somatic tumor testing rates and timeliness for patients with ovarian cancer. Discontinuing TPT in favor of NGS revealed a higher rate of actionable tumor mutations that would have been missed with TPT alone.
