When the piece I am working on is this flat and simple I sand 100% ( not stripping needed) so this one was definitely a quick flip. 
After I sanded the old finish it was time for some color and I went with RAW WASH ( paint Wash Woodandhomeaccents.com ) and I did a second color with oil base wood stain by minwax in the color driftwood. Love this color combo!! In order to apply the second color you have to let your paint wash dry completely I usually give it 24 hours before applying the stain. And the last strip after my stain was completely dry
