Rhoeo ‘Tricolor’ (Tradescantia spathaea)
Attractive tricolored foliage has white and green striping with pink highlights on the leaves and purple undersides. Place Rhoeo ‘Tricolor’ outside in a summer container or grow it as an annual planted directly in the ground in combination with begonias, impatiens and other plants that prefer partial sun. Keep out of hot, mid-day sun, but moderate amounts of light are needed to maintain the colorful foliage. Small white flowers surrounded by purple bracts appear intermittently throughout the spring, summer and fall. Rhoeo ‘Tricolor’ is also an easy-care houseplant for a bright, indirect light area of your home.
Variegated Cobweb Spiderwort (Tradescantia Sillamontana Variegata)
Variegated cream and green leaves have fine hairs on the leaves giving the whole plant a furry appearance and texture. It develops a pink tint when grown in sunlight. Variegated Cobweb Spiderwort makes an attractive hanging basket or it can be added to a summer container as an accent plant. Small lavender flowers appear in late summer. Grow in bright, indirect light or partial sun and water when the top of the soil is dry to the touch. This is an easy-care plant.
Begonia ‘Avatar’ (Begonia Rex Hybrid)
The coloring of this new rex hybrid is otherworldly with its silvery sheen, blushed in pink with a burgundy spotted border. The deep burgundy veining adds to its unusual coloring. This medium-size begonia has 4” leaves that create a full, mounding form. A Byron Martin hybrid.
Homalomena ‘Camouflage’ (Homalomena wallisii)
Homalomena ‘Camouflage’ has beautifully variegated leaves of light and dark green in unusual, mottled patterns. This easy-to-grow aroid needs partial sunlight or bright, indirect light, warm temperatures and high humidity to thrive. Keep it slightly moist since if the soil dries out, the leaves wilt dramatically but revive quickly once watered. It has a full but compact growth habit creating an attractive specimen for your home.
Elephant Ear Polargreen™ PP (Colocasia Hybrid)
Polargreen™ is a revolutionary new Elephant Ear that’s hardy to zone 5. The medium-size green leaves grow atop pink stems so it makes an attractive specimen plant for the garden. It prefers to be grown in moist soil in full to partial sunlight. It does not produce a tuber and will die back to the ground in cold zones but return the following spring. If grown in a container, do not allow the container to freeze solid in winter or it will kill the plant. Now, it’s easier than ever to add a touch of the exotic to your landscape even for gardeners in northern zones.
Alocasia ‘Dragon Scale’ (Alocasia baginda)
Alocasia ‘Dragon Scale’ has thickly textured, silvery-green leaves with pronounced dark green leaf veins that give the appearance of dragon scales. A native to Borneo, ‘Dragon Scale’ is a jewel Alocasia that stays compact, and it makes an ideal plant for an east or west-facing window since it grows best in bright, indirect light and moderate humidity. ‘Dragon Scale’ is a member of the Aroid family, and it adds charm and beauty to your indoor plant collection.
Alocasia ‘Golden Dragon’
This stunning new Alocasia ‘Golden Dragon’ has colorful golden-yellow leaf veins and stems once the plant reaches 3’ tall or becomes a larger specimen. The yellow colors get more vivid in bright light and as the plant ages. The large arrow-shaped, upright-pointing leaves have wavy edges atop the colorful stems. When young, the stems have a darker, mottled appearance. ‘Golden Dragon’ is a wonderful plant to create an eye-catching focal point in a summer garden or large container.
