A bin of mystery objects, whiteboards, markers, and fun with an educator made this a winning activity! They loved counting out the sounds in each word and then identifying the corresponding letters. Note: There are lots of ways to stretch out the sounds we hear in words. Stretching it out the way I did in the video is just our way to do it. While we always focus on teaching kids to blend the sounds together into words , segmenting is equally important for them as it helps in mapping sounds that further develops strong reading and writing skills .
