7/26/2018	The 2016-17 Four-Year Adjusted Cohort Graduation Rate (ACGR) and Outcome data has been released. Beginning in 2016-17, the ACGR and Outcome data were calculated using different business rules and are not comparable with the Cohort Outcome data from previous years.
4/17/2018	2018-19 Projected Teacher Hires and 2017-18 Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) of Classified Staff reports have been released.

11/01/2017	New Discipline Reports have been released for 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, 2014-15, 2015-16, and 2016-17. The previously released reports for 2011-12, 2012-13, 2013-14, and 2014-15 have been replaced with these new reports and the data for those years has been reprocessed to include suspension/expulsion rates disaggregated by race/ethnicity and program subgroups. The data displayed in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 reports is being released for the first time. These new reports are generated dynamically from individual level data and include a mobile-friendly template and enhanced filtering capabilities that allow for detailed analysis and data exploration at the state, county, district, and school levels. 2016-17 Physical Fitness Test (PFT) results have been released.

01/24/2012	The previously posted class of 2009-10 cohort outcome data was update on January 24, 2012. This update reflects corrections made by local education agencies (LEAS) and independently reporting charter schools to the CALPADS Fall 1 2010-11 Snapshot and to the CALPADS Operational Data Store (ODS). Modifications were also made to the criteria used to place and remove students from the 2009-10 cohort. Most LEAs had no changes or minor changes to their cohort outcome data.

Dropout and graduate data for some adult education centers were erroneously included in the K-12 schools dropout and graduate reports. These data have been deleted. This modification has caused the statewide high school graduate total to change from 383,643 to 383,091. Grade 9-12 dropout counts changed from 115,875 to 114,916 with a corresponding change in the 4-year dropout rate from 21.7% to 21.5%.

The October 2007 CBEDS statewide staffing reports show there is an increase in assignment code 0208 "Special Education Resource Specialist" under the pupil service assignments. This increase is probably due to many resource specialist teachers reporting themselves in the pupil service assignments instead of teacher assignments. The October 2007 CBEDS was the first year that the "Resource Specialist" and "Special Day Class" assignment codes were removed from the teacher assignment codes and aligned to the No Child Left Behind teacher requirements.

09/26/2003	New Report! Graduation Rates based on the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) formula. Data on these reports will be used as part of the AYP reporting requirements. These rates should not be considered actual graduation rates. In order to create an accurate rate you need to divide the number of graduates by the number of students who should be graduating. Unfortunately, we don't have the latter number. Reports are available at the State, County, District and School level.

07/24/2003	We've added another subject area! We now have reports on Adequate Yearly Progress. The No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 has accountability as its key component. Each state is required to develop and implement a statewide accountability system that will ensure that all schools and districts make Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP) as defined by NCLB.

For example, you can find all schools offering voice classes. 04/09/2002	We've designed some new reports on dropouts! The first new report is a time series report that displays the one-year dropout rate over time. The second new report lists dropouts by grade. Finally, we have designed a dropouts by ethnic designation report for the "Other choices" level. Remember, "Other choices" lets you run reports for schools and districts that go beyond our predefined levels. For example, "Other choices" will let you create a report on all of the high schools in the state. "Other choices" also lets you download the results of your search directly to your PC.

01/30/2002	The 2001 Language Census data file has been updated. Unedited data from some of California Youth Authority (CYA) schools were inadvertently included in the 2001 data. 03/29/2001	We have some new reports under the Stanford 9 Test Results subject area. During the annual Stanford-9 test administration, student data are coded by the district for each test taker. The information collected includes program participation and demographic data, such as gender and race/ethnicity. The Program Achievement Summaries display the 2000 Stanford-9 test results for various groups of students. The summaries are based on the performance of individual pupils on Stanford-9 content area tests as measured through national percentile rankings (NPRs). The report displays for the percent of students scoring at or above the 50^th percentile. The Achievement Summaries are available for the state, county, district, and school levels.

11/27/2000	QuickQuest has been expanded!. We've added an English Learners subject area to QuickQuest. For those of you who have wanted to find schools or districts that have English Learners of a specific language this is your ticket! When you go to QuickQuest use the dropdown at the top of the screen to select "English Learners," then press the "Go" button to refresh the screen. Follow the directions on the screen to create a query, then press the "Submit" button to see your results. Have fun!

10/12/2000	We've added a new level (Other choices)! People (like you) had asked to get the DataQuest reports for groups of districts and schools beyond the predefined levels - so we did. Not all subject areas have reports that will run with the new level, just enrollment, English learners, staffing and course enrollments. What does this mean? Well, now you can get reports for all the schools in the state (or a county), all the districts in the state (or county) and you can select the type of schools or districts that appear on the report. Not only that, but get this....you can download the data! You really must tell me how you like it.....

09/08/2000	Correction! We discovered an error in the way teachers and administrators were counted for the 1999-00 staffing reports. The problem has been fixed but if you've run staffing reports prior to this date your numbers will not match DataQuest. This error did not affect full-time equivalent (FTE) calculations.
09/08/2000	We have designed another version of the API Report. Now there is a county list of schools report. Yep, that's right, you can get a listing of all the schools in a county along with their API scores!

Test scores are listed for a single subject area by grade level. Depending on the level you choose you can see test scores for all counties in the state -or- all districts in a county -or- all schools in a district, all on the same page! Just like the rest of the reports in DataQuest, you get state, county and district results on the bottom of the page (where applicable).

04/07/2000	System improvement?!!? We've changed the way DataQuest searches for districts and schools. Now, when you type in a district or school name, the database returns records that match what you've typed in any portion of the name. Is that clear as mud? Well, here's an example let's say you want to find a school called Harte (Brett) Elementary, if you type in "hart" not only will you get Harte (Brett) Elementary, but you will also get Brett Harte Elementary and every other school with "hart" in the name like Oak Valley Charter. Let us know how you like it....

These data are not available by language. You can find it under the "English Learners" subject or under "Select your own data".
02/01/2000	New reports under English Learners! Now you can see numbers of English Learner students enrolled in specific instructional settings and the number of English Learner students receiving instructional services.
01/25/2000	Academic Performance Index (API) reports have been added! You can get a listing of schools in a district or school reports for individual schools. The API is a measurement for school achievement for accountability purposes as a result of the 1999 Public Schools Accountability Act (PSAA).
01/11/2000	A new report has been added! Under the course enrollments subject area we now have a report that lists the number of classes by subject area. Want to find out which schools in the district offer Advanced Placement classes? This is the place to find it!

12/08/1999	There is a new subject area in DataQuest. We've included Stanford 9 Test results. So what's the big deal you may ask, lots of sites have Stanford 9 test results. Well, not like DataQuest! We list test results for a single subject area by grade level. Depending on the level you choose you can see test scores for all counties in the state -or- all districts in a county -or- all schools in a district, all on the same page! Just like the rest of the reports in DataQuest, you get state, county and district results on the bottom of the page (where applicable). For example, if you choose a district level report you will see the test results for all of the schools in the district and at the bottom of the report you will see the district level test results, county level test results and the state level test results. Give it a try!
12/03/1999	QuickQuest has been expanded!. We've added a new subject area to QuickQuest. Now you can find districts or schools based on teacher data. This feature lets you view lists of districts or schools with the number of teachers listed...but wait, that's not all! You can get listings of districts and schools by teacher credential so now you can find all the districts or schools who have teachers with emergency credentials or teachers on waiver. Pretty neat huh?
11/10/1999	QuickQuest has been improved. At the top of the search results page we've added the number of districts or schools returned by the request and the enrollment total (based on the search criteria).
11/08/1999	The second bullet on the opening page is new. Now you can easily see all the reports that are available on DataQuest.
11/04/1999	Under the "Select Your Own Reports" we've added the rest of the ethnic designations. You used to be able to select African American, Asian, Hispanic and White, now you can also get American Indian/Alaska Native, Filipino, Pacific Islander and Multiple/No response. In addition, you will get the number of students along with the percent with your selection.
10/29/1999	We've added a new report about enrollment in alternative education programs (including # of graduates). You can find it under the "Enrollment" subject.
10/27/1999	"Select your own data" has been updated to include numbers of classified staff.
10/22/1999	"Select your own data" has been updated! We've added data about English Learners and Fluent-English-Proficient students.
10/03/1999	QuickQuest has been updated! We've added a drop down list that lets you pick a particular county. Now you can find enrollment for all the schools or districts for the county you are interested in.
09/10/1999	Under the "Select your own" reports we've added a new section on technology. Now you can find out the number of students per computer and the number of classrooms with Internet connectivity.
08/05/1999	Under the "Select your own" reports we've added a new item called "Type of School/District". This new item is only available for the district and school level reports.
07/01/1999	Under the "Staffing" reports you'll see that we've added new reports for classified staff. If you select the detailed version, you will see the various work groups (paraprofessional, office/clerical, other) listed by gender, ethnicity and full or part-time status.
