Please join us for the next gathering of AfroCROWD @ Brooklyn Public Library!
The New York Black Librarians' Caucus Wikipedia Editing Seminar will focus on editing, improving and adding references and articles to Wikipedia. The focus of the event will be noted librarians, historians and other people and places in black history, but participants can write about whatever they like. The aim is to add at least one sentence to the Wiki Lexicon and make at least one reference. This is also part of the Wikimedia global One Librarian 1 Reference Project.

- Join AfroCROWD to receive free training on becoming a Wikipedia editor.
- The event will encourage editing entries about notable librarians, historians and other people and places in black history, including black women in the African Diaspora dedicated to African affairs.
- Afro Free Culture Crowdsourcing Wikimedia (AfroCROWD) is a new initiative which seeks to increase the number of people of African Descent actively editing Wikipedia. Become a part of the Wikimedia and free knowledge, culture and software movements and help close the multicultural and gender gaps in Wikipedia.
- We have held monthly editathons in Brooklyn, Manhattan and Queens since February 2015.
- Beginners welcome.
- All languages welcome including English, Spanish, Haitian Creole, French, Yoruba, Twi, Woloff and other languages spoken in the African Diaspora. Wikipedia comes in 285 languages and you are welcome to edit it in any of them or translate from one language to another.
- Please contact alice@afrocrowd.org if you need a babysitter on premises
