Particularly: “Not given etymology by STEDT. Luce gives Old Chinese (OC *ŋaʔ, *ŋas, “to withstand, defend”) as a cognate;[1] this seems less feasible in light of later reconstructions of the Old Chinese, as well as the semantics being somewhat removed. Note also similarities to (OC *mrews, “temple”) and White Hmong tsev (house).”
