On the 28th of September 2009 at the Burggravenlaan the chemical crystallized [[picric acid]] was found. The building was evacuated out of precaution and the school's surroundings were closed down. Because the discovery was well before the start of the first classes, there were not many teachers and students in the school. In September 2010, some "broom movies" appeared with students and teachers of the Mariënpoel Street, which brought the widespread attention of the (national) media.<ref name="volkskrant">{{cite web|url=http://www.volkskrant.nl/binnenland/article1294800.ece/Leidse_school_ontruimd_wegens_explosiegevaar|title=Cookiewall: Cookies op de Volkskrant | de Volkskrant|website=volkskrant.nl|accessdate=2017-08-05}}</ref><ref name="telegraaf">{{cite web|url=http://www.telegraaf.nl/binnenland/7646124/__Leerlingen_bedreigd_op_YouTube__.html?p=2,2|title=Leerlingen bedreigd op YouTube|Binnenland|website=Telegraaf.nl|date=2010-09-14|accessdate=2017-08-05}}</ref> |
