Ishq Khuda Punjabi عشق خد; translated: love is god) is a 2013 Pakistani Punjabi-language romantic film directed by Shahzad Rafique and produced by Shafquat Chaudhry. It stars Shaan Shahid, Meera, Saima, Ahsan Khan, Humaima Malick, Wiam Dahmani and Shafqat Cheema. It is produced by Shafquat Chaudhry. Adeel pk is signed to edit the movie. The music of the film is composed by Wajahat Attray while lyrics are penned by Riaz ur Rehman Sagar. The film was released on 9 August 2013 and was declared successful at the box-office.
Plot
Rulia, a local hood (played by Shaan Shahid) who finds Ishq-e-Khuda (Love Of God), after he is ‘privileged’ by the prayer of a Sufi Dervish (a man of God). In a parallel unconnected arc Ashan Khan – playing Ahsan, an engineer from Karachi – falls for Iqra (Meera), while Kulsoom (Wiam Dahmani), Iqra’s best childhood-bud, falls for Ahsan.
Production
The production[1] of the film has recently begun in Beautiful Locations of Mianwali and Village Khoora of the beautiful Soon Valley, (District Khushab).[2] Among all actors, only Meera and Ahsan Khan have attended the shooting while rest of the actors will join the shoot later. It is reported that in the first phase of shoot, only songs will be captured. The budget of the film is 2.5 crores.
Music
The music of the film is composed by Pakistan's popular music director Wajahat Attray.[3] The lyrics of the songs are written by Riaz ur Rehman Sagar. Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Shazia Manzoor and Sanam Marvi will sing all the songs for the film. A pre recorded song of Abida Parveen was used as the Title track.
Story
The story is a love triangle between Ahsan Khan, Meera and Wiam Dahmani. Shaan Shahid plays an ex-criminal turned Sufi preacher, whilst actress Saima plays his love interest in the film.
Release
The film was released on 9 August 2013 across Pakistan. It was released with 35 prints. Pakistani cinemas didn't give it proper screens and preferred Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express.
Critical reception
The film clashed with Shah Rukh Khan's Chennai Express at the box-office and was completely crushed by it resulting in loss to the producers.
