The route 486 is managed with a brand new fleet of [[Alexander Dennis Enviro400]] (E) which were delivered in January 2007. The route passes [[Charlton Athletic Football Club]]'s stadium in Charlton, so when Charlton play their home matches, the 486 is diverted via Frances Street to avoid the Road Closures due to the football supporters. |

Route 486 was first introduced in February 2001, running between North Greenwich and [[Welling]] Corner. It replaced an express service between Charlton and North Greenwich, the M1, which served the [[Millennium Dome]], but was actually far more popular with commuters using the new [[Jubilee Line]] extension than with Dome visitors. |

Later it was extended to Bexleyheath, with double-deck buses replacing the unreliable singer-deckers it inherited from the M1. |
