Political Career
Sauvé's political career began working as a supervisor for a polling station for Vancouver south electoral district in the 2015 Canadian federal election. Although Sauvé is rather new to politics, she hopes to use activist history as an asset in the upcoming election. Sauvé commented on the matter in an interview for the Abbotsford News:<blockquote>“When they see a guy in a suit who talks about policy, is that something that people can really wrap their heads around when it comes to their everyday struggle? I’m hoping people will see me as a candidate who is a grassroots activist despite the fact that I haven’t worked for an MP.”</blockquote>Sauvé has prepared for candidacy through courses at UBC, attempt to ready herself for the upcoming election despite her limited political experience. Sauvé believes that these unconventional pathways to politics are resulting in an increase of female candidates, as well as an increase in younger candidates, which she believes encourages people to engage in politics.
