Potentially Unclear: Who May Nominate Someone for KY Colonel?

I see conflicting information within the article about this. Within the article it even states and links to the fact that anyone can nominate someone to be a Colonel, as Gov. Andy Beshear changed it to be more inclusive. In the intro, though, it's somewhat unclear, leading to confusion over who may nominate. In the introduction, the article (as of writing this) currently says "The Governor of Kentucky bestows the honorable title with a colonelcy commission, by issuance of letters patent under Common Law upon nomination by another Kentucky colonel, or by being recognized with the "Honorable" title directly by the Governor upon the recommendation of another." I don't think this is very clear, as if the Governor wanted to grant someone the honor, they could without nomination. Additionally, it says "or by being recognized with the "Honorable" title directly by the Governor upon the recommendation of another.", since the Governor is the only one who can bestow the honor, and generally does so with recommendations, which are now open to anyone to submit, I think this second part of the sentence should be removed as it's redundant, and the first part should be changed to something much clearer, and less potentially confusing. Something that quite clearly states that anyone may submit a nomination, not just current Kentucky Colonels, and note that this was a relatively recent change. Section titled "Commonwealth Colonels"

I noticed that a number of the sources of this section could be classified as primary sources or otherwise not fitting the category or Reliable Source including copies of legal documents stored in Google Drive. I have replaced the citations with the Citation needed template and added a template indicating that the section needs additional citations. I also added a POV notice as there have been a number of edits to the section from someone with a COI. I have not (and will not) make other changes to the section as I believe that it would be best approached by someone starting from the current state rather than someone who may approach it with the removal of the citations fresh in their mind. I have removed this section, which was largely contributed to by user Problemsmith[1], who is the "Col. David J. Wright" mentioned in the section and who is now banned for sockpuppetry. The origins of the section were contributed by user Shamansfriend[2], who is one of Problemsmith's suspected sockpuppets.

Tidying up of citations

I have been removing citations that are original research, primary sources and the like. I am removing them in batches to allow others time to object, revert, etc. and there are still more removals to come. I have been replacing the citations with the "Citation needed" template but not removing the related text. If you are looking for a starting point then consider visiting https://kycolonelcy.us/history/newsarticles. Whilst it is not appropriate to use as a citation there is an extensive collection of newspaper articles listed. Gusfriend (talk) 01:27, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Combining sections on Kentucky Colonel culture

I have combined multiple sections under Kentucky Colonel culture into a short list. The previous text lacked sufficient citations and weren't concise. I am happy to discuss the changes and also happy for it to be reverted if there are citations. Gusfriend (talk) 09:17, 13 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

This article needs to be rewritten

This article is written by David J. Wright who has an agenda. It resorts to petty name calling 76.77.164.172 (talk) 06:23, 11 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

David j. Wright is diffidently biased as he was the defendant in a lawsuit brought by The Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels. I rewrote a large portion of the article including the history section, additional sources would still be useful for this section to corroborate current cited sources.
