@Junior 588: Hello. For these three edits, you added "City" to the parameter "native name", where the native name of that town is not "City", so it has been reverted. In case you don't know, foreign language names are allowed in the native name parameter. If you don't understand what is "native name", you can search Oxford Dictionary of native here and name here. Hi. I think you mean how you should update the description. Verifiability is one of the most important policies of Wikipedia, that is, All material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists and captions, must be verifiable. All quotations, and any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, must include an inline citation that directly supports the material. Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed. Moreover, the material you added to the page appears to be promotional which violates the neutral point of view policy. Problems with Handy Backup draft page

Hello! Thank you for the list of articles that you submitted to me for training on the Handy Backup page.

Unfortunately, I still do not understand what I am doing wrong. I removed all references to Handy Backup, reminiscent of commercial use, and quoted only information from reputable and authoritative sources, such as PCMag and PCWorld magazines. This information contains both laudatory and critical opinions. I also wrote all facts about Handy Backup in a neutral tone.

I ask for your advice. How else can I improve my article about Handy Backup?

I have one small quibble, which is the use of "required" for the justifications: users may assume those fields are required in a technical sense for the template to work without error, which is not the case, and I don't want to accidentally discourage use through that assumption. In fact, justifications aren't even "required" in a guideline sense, just highly recommended. Tech News: 2019-03

Latest tech news from the Wikimedia technical community. Please tell other users about these changes. Not all changes will affect you. Translations are available.

Recent changes

  • You can now use Google Translate in the content translation tool. [1][2]
  • You can now add captions to files on Commons. Captions are short descriptions of the file. They can be translated to all languages we use. They can't use wikitext markup.
  • Earlier a quoted HTML attribute had to be followed by a space. Now it doesn't. This means that some pages could look different when you save them even if you didn't edit that part of the text. [3][4]
  • Advanced item Templates with <templatestyles> could not show the difference between the live template and the sandbox version when they were tested. This has now been fixed. <templatestyles> has a new wrapper parameter now. You can use it for selectors like .mw-parser-output <wrapper parameter value> <selector from CSS page>. [5]

Problems

  • When you see an edit in the recent changes feed or in the history of a page some of them have tags. Some tags are added automatically. You can also add tags manually. Tags for edits that have been added manually can be edited. This didn't work for a little while. This has now been fixed. [6]

Changes later this week

  • You can move files from your wiki to Wikimedia Commons and keep the file history with the new FileExporter. It will be a beta feature on all wikis from 16 January. If you want to test it you activate it and check your wiki's configuration file.
  • Users who could cause more damage to the wikis if someone took over their account have to have more secure passwords. This includes administrators and other user groups. They can't use passwords that are in a list of common passwords. Accounts with common passwords are easy to take over. The list of common passwords was made longer a few weeks ago and has a different error message. Some user groups have been added to those who can't use common passwords. This is to protect all accounts with user rights that could cause damage. [7]
  • Advanced item The AbuseFilter variable minor_edit has been removed. It was deprecated in 2016. Now you can't use it. You can fix the filters using it. You can find them if you use the search bar on Special:AbuseFilter.
  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from January 15 17:54, 14 January 2019 (UTC)

Tech News

  • Some people did not get last week's issue of Tech News. This was because of a problem with MassMessage. If you did not get last week's issue, you can read it on Meta. [8]

Recent changes

  • The content translation tool can now use version 2 as the default version for users who turned on the beta feature. For example it adds the tracking category Pages with unreviewed translations to translations that might have used machine translations without fixing the problems. This is so others can find them. You can find this category in Special:TrackingCategories on Wikipedias.
  • https://mediawiki2latex-large.wmflabs.org can now convert collects of up to 800 pages to PDF, EPUB or ODT. Previously this was 200 pages.

Problems

  • When a template was edited with the visual editor, it would sometimes put all information on one line. This makes it difficult to read for editors who use the wikitext editor. It also makes it more difficult to see what happened in a diff. This problem affected edits made between 8 and 17 January and is now fixed. [9]
  • MassMessage is used to post a message to many pages. It has not been working reliably. Some messages have not been posted to everyone. [10][11]
  • Because of a database problem that had to be fixed immediately you could not edit most wikis for a couple of minutes on 17 January (UTC). This has now been fixed. [12]

Changes later this week

  • You will be able to use template styles in the Module namespace. [13]
  • Recurrent item The new version of MediaWiki will be on test wikis and MediaWiki.org from 22 January. It will be on non-Wikipedia wikis and some Wikipedias from 23 January. It will be on all wikis from 24 January (calendar).

Jean Gabin World War II action (errors in article)

Hello Abelmoschus Esculents, The article on Jean Gabin has two errors concerning his service with the Free French during World War II. 1) He did not, as stated, "fight with the Allies in North Africa." He was based in Algiers training recruits of the Fusiliers Marins before being assigned to a tank regiment. There was no combat involved. 2) He did not participate in the liberation of Paris. Due to bureaucratic snafus, he was not with his regiment when it landed in Normandy on August 3, 1944 and then went on to Paris. Gabin arrived in France in October 1944 and was sent to eastern France to aid American troops in mopping up operations. After that his outfit joined the Allied forces assaulting the Royan Pocket from January to April 1945. His last action was mopping up in Bavaria, ending with Allied occupation of Hitler's Eagle's Nest, three days before Germany surrendered. So I suggest the "World War II action" section be reworded to reflect the facts as related in André Brunelin's definitive biography, "Gabin" (1987) and in Patrick Glâtre's authoritative "Jean Moncorgé Gabin Acteur de la Liberation de Royan" (2015), not to mention my own "Jean Gabin: The Actor Who Was France" (2018).Wordcobbler (talk) 10:43, 29 January 2019 (UTC)Wordcobbler January 29, 2019[reply]

Would love if someone could help me understand how deleting BLP's of people who don't meet the "notability" guidelines makes Wikipedia "better"

I would love to understand this. From where I stand this practice looks to be fraught with problems.

Just to be precise, this isn't an issue of trying to understand why articles that suffer from verifiability issues are deleted. I understand very clearly the interest in preventing abuse of this resource. Prevention of abuse of the space is paramount in preserving credibility. Without evidence of abuse it can begin to feel like cruelty, a high standard simply for the sake of having a high standard. Another term for this could be elitism. What I don't understand is how less information (in this case, deemed non-notable) here helps anyone. Is this an issue of limited space?

"Notability" used in this context begins to look a lot like arbiters determining what is deserving of attention. Seems like it could get very personal, very quickly. In fact, I don't see any scenario where it isn't personal. Different events, subjects, and people are significant in different ways to a great many different people. So how does labeling something as not meeting "notability" criteria differ from de-legitimizing or devaluing something which might be of critical importance to someone who doesn't share your same viewpoint?

Often, when I use this resource, I begin in one place and go on a ride, connecting people to one another, sometimes across generations, to better understand how group efforts can result in a larger change. In the interest of this kind of use, the more people that are included, and have a page, even if the information there is partial, the better, with no upper limit.

If that's not what this resource is here for, so be it. Please help me understand why? If anyone feels inclined to offer a thoughtful answer, I thank you in advance. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Primniple (talk • contribs) 01:58, 30 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Primniple: Here's my take of it. Wikipedia is the 5th most popular website on the Internet according to Alexa as well as the largest online encyclopedia in the world, meaning that majority of people do research or gather information in here. A good way to ensure that the information/content is correct is by looking at the sources. Subjects that are significantly covered by multiple secondary, independent sources are notable. We trust that information provided by reliable sources (such as bbc, university press) are correct, and writing an article based on those sources guarantees that the content is factual but not some random gossip, perpetuating hoaxes or indiscriminate collection of information. The existence of secondary sources also certifies that the content adheres to the neutral point of view policy. In contrast, non-notable people are generally not significantly covered by reliable sources, maybe just mere mentions. These scraps of information can only be used to write a short paragraph or definition of the topic, which implies that they are not qualified for an standalone article. The notability guideline also applies to BLPs. Not everyone (including non-notable ones, like you and me) deserves an article, not because of limited server space or "they exist". Of course arbitrariness is inevitable when determining notability, but we have several essays and guidelines that have detailed information and instructions for us to refer to when assessing notability. However, when a few experienced editors thinks the topic is not notable, it usually is indeed non-notable.
Regarding "How does labeling something as not meeting "notability" criteria differ from de-legitimizing or devaluing something which might be of critical importance to someone who doesn't share your same viewpoint?", we all have different viewpoints and opinions, but does your opinion outweigh others'? That's why WP:NPOV exists. Everyone can claim that their mother or whatsoever is critically important to them, but does the rest of the world thinks so? That is a very common mistake of newcomers. When determining notability, we need to stand in a neutral position without personal bias. By doing so, we can remove possible hoaxes or incorrect information, since they inevitably lack reliable sources. That's why they're non-notable, isn't it? @Primniple: In addition to all of the above excellent points, I would add one more. Wikipedia is the encyclopedia anyone can edit, and anyone and everyone does, sometimes stupidly or maliciously or just badly. Particularly where articles are created about living people of relatively minor notability, there is a substantial risk that, however many years later, the article will be turned into an attack piece, a place for their ex-partner (business or personal) to list their gripes, or just an unduly negative article that causes serious problems for an ordinary person who is just trying to get on with their life and may have moved on from the events described many decades ago. This can happen to people who were in a rock band of no particular note for a few years a long time ago, people who were unsuccessful candidates for some election or other, people who were trying to start up a business and a friend "helped out" by creating a Wikipedia article to promote them, and so on. Without strong guidelines on notability, we would have tens of millions of these articles instead of the perhaps few hundred thousand that we have. And almost every time it goes wrong for whatever reason, we get this kind of thing, which causes great distress for whatever semi-notable person is involved (and perhaps their family too), and a significant amount of extra work and stress for volunteer Wikipedia editors and (sometimes) paid WMF employees. There are a great many times I have seen the subjects of articles themselves request that the article about them is deleted, sometimes even after it was they themselves that created it! That's after things go bad. Bad articles that should never have existed in the first place caused problems constantly, even just now I am watching this mess (no suggestion that he created the article himself), you can see the upset and outrage that the subject of the article quite rightly feels.   • A request for comment is currently open to reevaluate the activity requirements for administrators.
  • Administrators who are blocked have the technical ability to block the administrator who blocked their own account. A recent request for comment has amended the blocking policy to clarify that this ability should only be used in exceptional circumstances, such as account compromises, where there is a clear and immediate need.
  • A request for comment closed with a consensus in favor of deprecating The Sun as a permissible reference, and creating an edit filter to warn users who attempt to cite it.

Technical news

  • A discussion regarding an overhaul of the format and appearance of Wikipedia:Requests for page protection is in progress (permalink). The proposed changes will make it easier to create requests for those who are not using Twinkle. The workflow for administrators at this venue will largely be unchanged. Additionally, there are plans to archive requests similar to how it is done at WP:PERM, where historical records are kept so that prior requests can more easily be searched for.

Miscellaneous

  • Voting in the 2019 Steward elections will begin on 08 February 2019, 14:00 (UTC) and end on 28 February 2019, 13:59 (UTC). The confirmation process of current stewards is being held in parallel. You can automatically check your eligibility to vote.

This while it removed some sub-optimal material re-introduced an uncited BLP issue (almost certain vandalism) regarding the subject.   1. The options at the bottom are either "edit" or "close"; edit closes the discussion, while close closes the interface. Can I suggest renaming these to "Close the discussion" and "Cancel" or something similar?
  2. Can you detect if a discussion is already closed? See this edit for example.
  3. Once its "done" closing, when you close the interface, can you have it reload the page to see the result?

Just saw it in action - I believe if you just use the code /* Section name */ at the beginning of the summary you can avoid the extra wikilink. I have submitted an article for publication. It is about myself and my career in tennis. The article was denied because it lacked citations? or sources? I am not sure what sources are needed for to establish my NCAA record, or my awards from the USPTA. They are all available on NCAA and USPTA Websites. Should I like the links to those websites as sources? My time coaching top players in China is also well established and I could get letters of confirmation but am not sure what is being asked for and why? This is my first submission and is a result of multiple requests to have my record and career on Wikipedia by a number of people within and without the tennis industry. Willing to do what it takes just such a novice that I need help. Thank you for you time. I go to Hong Kong once or twice a year and was there in December and will be again in May doing Coaching clinics and certifications. I worked with Zheng Jie during the Watson's Water Challenge a number of years ago when she was there playing against the likes of Venus and Serena Williams, Kim Clisjters, Lindsay Davenport, etc. That is not listed in my article but I could get tennis people from Hong Kong to verify that if it would help to verify anything else that I have in my article. @Hawaiiaces: Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! The article was declined mostly because it is unreferenced, which is a violation of our verifiability policy and biographies of living people policy. It is stated: Wikipedia does not publish original research. Its content is determined by previously published information rather than the beliefs or experiences of its editors. Even if you're sure something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it. All material in Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists and captions, must be verifiable. All quotations, and any material whose verifiability has been challenged or is likely to be challenged, must include an inline citation that directly supports the material. Any material that needs a source but does not have one may be removed. Please immediately remove contentious material about living people that is unsourced or poorly sourced. If you want your draft to be published, you must at least provide one reliable source, but it's much more than that, I'll talk about that later. Redirects and socks

Hi, I see that you've accepted quite a few of the redirects requested at WP:AFC/R by 82.22.116.129 (talk · contribs · WHOIS). That editor is a sock of one, particularly prolific and persistent sockmaster. I've had to deal with them before, and even though they have occasionally created legitimate stuff, most of the time it's somewhere on the spectrum between "misleading" and "outright hoax". My view is that it's usually much less work to delete all their creations per WP:G5 than to examine each one in detail to see if it might be alright. But you've reviewed the redirects, I presume, so you might have a different opinion?

Also, it's a bit unfortunate that the IP had managed to file so many requests while its SPI case was still open. Well, there's one thing you can do to avoid such situations – though I don't know if it's worth the effort – you can check the editor before accepting: going to their talk page, clicking "What links here" and then filtering to the WP namespace should come up with mentions of them on the noticeboards, if there are any. – Uanfala (talk) 00:07, 15 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

As for the rest, there are either likely hoaxes (a web search doesn't return anything definite (other than the sockmaster's own posts on quora, youtube and the like), or potentially ambiguous, or just plain implausible (like the "national currency" one). I think these should be deleted:

Clarification regarding draft submission of "Coat of arms of Austria-Hungary"

Hi there.

Back in September I began work on an article (about the coat of arms of the Austrian Empire) in my personal sandbox, specifically Alphathon/sandbox2, then got distracted by real life and left it in an incomplete state. I just went back to it today to do some more to it and noticed that someone (user Aleguez70, who has no other edits on any MediaWiki project as far as I can tell – they may have registered purely to submit my sandboxed page) had, for whatever reason, decided to submit it by adding the {{submit}} template. I have no idea who they are, why they did or how they found the page (I have asked them on their talk page). Then user Robert McClenon moved the page to the drafts namespace as it is the "Preferred location for AfC submissions" under the name Draft: Coat of Arms of Austria-Hungary (which is, incidentally, incorrect, as the text talks about the arms of the pre-compromise Austrian Empire, not Austria-Hungary). Then, you declined it as an article with that name already existed in the main namespace, then reverted your declination one minute later without explanation. Finally, about a month later (a little over a day ago as I type this), user StraussInTheHouse declined it again for the same reason.

Anyway, all the stuff about it being declined is really neither here nor there, as it was mislabelled, incomplete and perhaps a bit "essay-like" anyway. (Even given the mislabelling I have no real issue with it being merged into Coat of arms of Austria-Hungary once it is finished instead of having its own article if that is preferable.) What I want to know is why you declined it then reverted.

I would also like to move the page back to my sandbox (edit history and all, at least up to my last edit) until I have finished working on it. I am happy to do this myself; however, I have never used the draft feature/namespace before and don't really know the rules, how it works etc and didn't want to accidentally break any rules or step on anyone's toes. Since you clearly do know how it all works I thought you might be able to help. I suppose I'm sort of asking permission to move it back and checking if there's anything else I need to do (would I need to leave a redirect etc). If all else fails I can always just copy the contents back in, but I'd rather keep the edit history intact. I have also contacted StraussInTheHouse about this.

Hello IP. A few reviewers and me cited WP:MUSICBIO (please see below) which your draft fails. I did a brief Google search on the subject. Most of the search results are either primary sources such as personal websites or questionable sources, which does not add notability. The sources in the draft are generally ok, but the above reasons made it unsuitable for mainspace. The thing you can only do now is to find more secondary sources, but since the subject is not notable enough, it will be hardly accepted. Musicians or ensembles (this category includes bands, singers, rappers, orchestras, DJs, musical theatre groups, instrumentalists, etc.) may be notable if they meet at least one of the following criteria.

  1. Has been the subject of multiple, non-trivial, published works appearing in sources that are reliable, not self-published, and are independent of the musician or ensemble itself.
    • This criterion includes published works in all forms, such as newspaper articles, books, magazine articles, online versions of print media, and television documentaries except for the following:
      • Any reprints of press releases, other publications where the musician or ensemble talks about themselves, and all advertising that mentions the musician or ensemble, including manufacturers' advertising.
      • Works consisting merely of trivial coverage, such as articles that simply report performance dates, release information or track listings, or the publications of contact and booking details in directories.

Note that members of notable bands are redirected to the band's article, not given individual articles, unless they have demonstrated individual notability for activity independent of the band, such as solo releases. Singers and musicians who are only notable for participating in a reality television series may be redirected to an article about the series, until they have demonstrated that they are independently notable.

Hello Abelmoschus Esculentus, please be aware that a good number of the redirects you've recently created at WP:AFC/R are being commandeered for other purposes and immediately turned into move requests for newly-created articles, which seems to be an end-around of the normal WP:AFC process. I am not normally involved with AFC, but you can see some of what I'm talking about in my recent contributions. I hope this will help you decide whether or not to create the redirects for certain IPs, or perhaps you can follow up on the redirects afterwards to see if they are being used as intended. Responding here because I was pinged (thank you!): first of all, let me just say that I try to not touch ANI so I'm not knowledgeable with when exactly reports should be made there and when they shouldn't. :-) I have created about 200 redirects with AFC/R and I've viewed many submissions by other users... and I haven't seen this problem a single time. This suggests that it is not a problem that occurs extremely often, unless my sample was just a coincidence. Also, these two unregistered users, based on the location and behavior of the IPs, may actually be the same person, although I won't make any assumptions and I'm not really knowledgeable with how quickly IP addresses can automatically switch. It doesn't seem like there would be a way to filter out the redirects that would turn problematic as soon as they're requested without catching a lot of false positives, so my personal suggestion would be to watch the redirects you create so that you can see if they are changed into articles.   • It would be excellent if everyone could keep redirects on their watchlist after creating them at WP:AFC/R, in order to become aware of this sort of problem as soon as it arises in each individual case -- IP addresses change often, and many different miscreants on many different IP addresses might be abusing the process in the same way. Of course, watchlisting everything one ever creates might not be bearable if one is working at AFC/R a lot. An approach I take in similar circumstances is, when reading my watchlist, think to myself, "why is this on my watchlist", and if there's no good reason, then remove it. By this means, some barely notable soccer player or whatever, that a few months ago I watchlisted to deal with a recurring BLP problem or similar, I will quickly realise is now no longer in need of my help or interest, therefore I will remove it. If I only added it a couple of weeks ago -- or in your case, if you only created the redirect a couple of weeks ago -- then it's usually easy to work out why it's there and perhaps keep it a bit longer. I began this approach when I discovered that I had an absolutely huge watchlist of articles that mostly were of no interest to me whatsoever. MPS1992 (talk) 18:58, 21 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

The Wikimedia Foundation is planning a global consultation about communication. The goal is to bring Wikimedians and wiki-minded people together to improve tools for communication.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis, whatever their experience, their skills or their devices.

We are looking for input from as many different parts of the Wikimedia community as possible. It will come from multiple projects, in multiple languages, and with multiple perspectives.

We are currently planning the consultation. We need your help.

We need volunteers to help talk to their communities or user groups.

You can help by hosting a discussion at your wiki. Here's what to do:

  1. First, sign up your group here.
  2. Next, create a page (or a section on a Village pump, or an e-mail thread – whatever is natural for your group) to collect information from other people in your group. This is not a vote or decision-making discussion: we are just collecting feedback.
  3. Then ask people what they think about communication processes. We want to hear stories and other information about how people communicate with each other on and off wiki. Please consider asking these five questions:
    1. When you want to discuss a topic with your community, what tools work for you, and what problems block you?
    2. What about talk pages works for newcomers, and what blocks them?
    3. What do others struggle with in your community about talk pages?
    4. What do you wish you could do on talk pages, but can't due to the technical limitations?
    5. What are the important aspects of a "wiki discussion"?
  4. Finally, please go to Talk pages consultation 2019 on Mediawiki.org and report what you learned from your group. Please include links if the discussion is available to the public.

You can also help build the list of the many different ways people talk to each other.

Not all groups active on wikis or around wikis use the same way to discuss things: it can happen on wiki, on social networks, through external tools... Tell us how your group communicates.

Re this edit: I've reverted your reversion of my edit. I don't think I get your point behind that edit, but, anyway, here's why I reverted yours:

  • I posted that message before they were blocked; I didn't find a way to confirm if they were sockpuppetting (or if it was a long-term abuse).
  • They were somewhat actively "vandalizing" (not what you see after like 5 hours); my comment was more or less a user warning, which I intended to escalate to level 4 and report them to AIV.
  • WP:DENY is an essay not a policy or a guideline. (Ironically leaving this here.)
  • WP:TPO: The basic rule—with exceptions outlined below [which don't include removing others' comment for, as you call it, "DENY," apparently]—is to not edit or delete others' posts without their permission.

I'm unsure why you called WP:TPO an essay.(ec) I just finished reading the essay you tend to link quite often; unsurprisingly, it's about reverting the "true" vandals and trolls, and not about reverting users who post user-warnings and are unaware of the vandals' LTAs; it doesn't beseech one to not "talk" to them. Also, IMO, your reversion didn't help "improving or maintaining" the Wikipedia. I apologize if I came off a bit rude earlier—I did not mean to. I woke up to a notification of reversion that was not done by a vandal and I didn't find a policy to justify the reversion; hope you didn't mind. Pageone11 — Hello and welcome to Wikipedia! Yesterday, I reverted this edit of yours, and left a message on your talk page about the unsourced content addition. Now I will explain it in-depth. All content in Wikipedia is largely based on [{WP:RS|reliable sources]]. All material in the Wikipedia mainspace, including everything in articles, lists and captions, must be verifiable, and "verifiable" means other people using the encyclopedia can check that the information comes from a reliable source. This can prevent the publishing of original research. Even if you believe something is true, it must be verifiable before you can add it. Wikipedia has such strict rules because we want our content to be factual and neutral, so reliable sources are required to achieve this goal.
After explaining why you should provide sources, I'll briefly explain how to cite them. Generally, we will use Citation Style 1 (see the collapse box below for templates and please read the documentaries for each template). The most commonly used template is {{cite web}}, which is for citing websites as sources. Moreover, we will wrap the citation template with a HTML tag "ref" (<ref></ref>). So the whole citation will look like <ref>{{cite web|url=...|title=...|accessdate=...}}</ref>, and are usually placed after an adjacent punctuation such as commas(,) or periods(.) per WP:CITEFOOT.
I encourage you to read WP:CS and WP:INCITE for detailed procedures to correctly cite a source. More information about reliable sources can be found in your talk page. Your preferred version, "Catholic Church in Saudi Arabia is officially barred from being practiced" doesn't make grammatical sense. The IPs version, "Catholicism is officially barred from being practiced" is at least gramatically correct, though leaves an important bit of information out. My preferred version would be "Catholicism is officially barred from being practiced in Saudi Arabia". The IP doesn't get blocked because he started a discussion on the talk page. @Ritchie333: According to the series {{Catholic Church by country}}, most of the articles use "The Catholic Church in XXX". "The Catholic Church is officially barred in Saudi Arabia" or "The Catholic Church in Saudi Arabia is barred." would be an alternative. Or else you have to move the article to Catholicism in Saudi Arabia, which is quite unfit in the series. That was my careless mistake, and did not notice the discussion on the talk page. Changing the topic sentence in the lede that does not match the article title while reverting edits of Flyer22 Reborn and mine over and over again (just like what I did), calling us "vandals" doesn't seem fine to me. ―Abelmoschus Esculentus (talk • contribs) 11:24, 27 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Just to point out that the IP's edits were in no way blatant vandalism, which makes yours a misuse of the rollback tool (again), and using it to edit-war only compounds the misuse: 24 hours might be seen as rather generous in that light. (ec) How on earth do you "accidentally" revert somebody four times in about 20 minutes? I'll put the discussion about the content to one side for a minute, because as our edit warring policy says : "An editor who repeatedly restores their preferred version is edit warring, regardless of whether those edits are justifiable: "But my edits were right, so it wasn't edit warring" is no defense." I'm not really happy about the IP saying "stop vandalising!"; however, they were trying to resolve the dispute, and it's not particularly uncommon for new or inexperienced editors to know the difference between vandalism and plain old disruptive editing. I really don't think you understand the key issues here, so I'm afraid I'm not inclined to unblock just yet.
