== West Virginia in the Civil War ==

Hello, You deleted the paragraph I added to that page, though everything I wrote was verifable, most of which was from Randall's "Civil War and Reconstruction", which is considered a standard work.

Welcome to the Wikipedia!

Hello, and Welcome to the Wikipedia, Burndownthedisco! Hope you enjoy editing here and becoming a Wikipedian! Here are a few perfunctory tips to hasten your acculturation into the Wikipedia experience:

Richard Wilson

Thanks for wikifying - and adding links. I found necessary cites. It would have been nice for there to be something more about my grandmother than as wife of a "famous" man.

No problem! Of course, I don't really know your grandmother (or grandfather, for that matter), so... hmm. Did she work for any newspapers or anything? That could be something that would flesh her out.
Maybe a picture of M. Wilson as well? wilhelm 22:20, 19 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
My grandmother did work for newspapers and did a valuable and still-cited index of Iowa newspapers when she was at U of I. Despite her advanced degree, she never wanted to make a name for herself. She did a column for a (now) defunct Washington DC paper for awhile but gave it up. For her, it was all Dick (Wilson). As for pictures... got a few around. When my wife's cousin (who works for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch) visited a few weeks ago, she wanted to see an actual Pulitzer Prize--and I had one (not the medal, alas)! I will scan/upload a pic to the page when I get some time.
What I find most exhilarating is that, by creating a page on Wikipedia for an otherwise rather anonymous newspaperman his biography is now available to everyone with Net access. I like that. Besides that accomplishment, my wikialbum contris seem kind of, well, silly. --Fantailfan 00:41, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I dunno... to me, working on the Album Wikiproject gives me some kind of Zen satisfaction; I just kind of get into a groove, and I'm improving the world in a small way. Besides, the album portion of Wiki is so terribly maintained, and it needs all the help it can get. But I know what you mean; contributing to something with "actual importance" is even more fulfilling, in a way. wilhelm 04:41, 20 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]
