Good afternoon Evad37

Thank you for removing the categories. So basically, I need to put them on the talk page?

Please confirm.

watchlist nightmare

I dont seem to get https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Evad37/Watchlist-openUnread to work - any clues or examples as tpo how to deal with the issue of an oversize list ??? JarrahTree 09:09, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry to have bothered, I think I have sort of got a bit of it, but please dont bother, I think I need severe surgery on my watchlist - no one anywhere seems to say what the optimal size to not get the message of: too much. JarrahTree 09:51, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@JarrahTree: If you get desperate, there is a button to clear (completely empty) your watchlist at Special:Preferences / watchlist tab (though I'm not sure if it works when you're getting the too big message) - Evad37 [talk] 23:37, 1 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Community Wishlist Survey

Hey again, just saw that the Community Wishlist Survey is open again for nominations. Do you think any of my ideas on the running list of maplink problems should be added - is it within their scope? One particular thing I can think of is a new and expanded set of icons. I've alone spotted a great many ways it needs to be fixed! ɱ (talk) 05:54, 17 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@: Sure, go ahead - even if not selected by the Community Tech team, it lets other WMF teams and volunteer developers know that the community is still interested in mapframe maps. To get the best chance of being picked, the proposal(s) should try to be high-impact (so it gets votes from the community), but not to big or diverse or difficult (which isn't necessarily easy to judge, but these factors would make it more likely to be skipped over by the com.tech team). - Evad37 [talk] 00:17, 18 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Evad37: - thanks, working on it here. Once live, I'll perhaps try to ask people to comment - could you raise it to other maplink folks, or at relevant project spaces? ɱ (talk) 00:17, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
If/when you think this is good to go, I'll move it. ɱ (talk) 00:28, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@: Looks pretty good, should probably just make it about <mapframe> and <maplink> maps - that enwiki uses Template:Maplink to insert those is kind of beside the point - it can be mentioned, but really the icon improvements should not be dependent on which specific templates/modules are in use on any particular wiki - Evad37 [talk] 06:45, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, thanks. Now live here. ɱ (talk) 15:02, 19 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Do you think I should add to this CWS proposal the ability to have no icon? I know that is standard, but in infoboxes with a default icon, like {{infobox museum}}, I believe there is no way to go back to having no icon there. Can you look into this? Also, please let me know any ideas for spreading word about the proposal on mapping spaces! Best, ɱ (talk) 00:30, 1 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, that's something to be handled locally by templates/modules. The default for when using the <mapframe> tag directly is no icon, unless an icon is specified - Evad37 [talk] 23:29, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Right, yeah. So using infobox museum, you think there is no way to display a map that doesn't have an icon (except perhaps when using "mapframe-custom"?) ɱ (talk) 23:37, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
No, what should happen is for the module to recognise that something like |marker=none or |marker=_ or similar means that it shouldn't pass through any value for the icon - Evad37 [talk] 23:41, 3 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@:  Done, I ended up going with blank. That will work anywhere the Mapframe or Infobox mapframe modules or templates are used. - Evad37 [talk] 00:18, 4 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2020 Elections voter message

Hello! Voting in the 2020 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 7 December 2020. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2020 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 02:31, 24 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A suggestion for MoveToDraft

Hello Evad. Since there’s now a bot that tags drafts moved from mainspace, would it be possible to incorporate the template it applies into the script? Possibly, in the same edit as the AfC submission tag? This would be the {{Drafts moved from mainspace}} template if it helps. Thanks! Jalen Folf (talk) 11:35, 25 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Should be possible, but I am busy in real life and might not get around to it until December. - Evad37 [talk] 00:18, 27 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
