: I don't know if they have been used as tankers... the italian air forces homepage about italys participation in Odyssey Dawn says that the IDS can be used in the air-to-ground or air-to-air-refueling role [http://www.aeronautica.difesa.it/News/Pagine/AeronauticaMilitareeOperazioneOdyssey.aspx]. The first Italian mission was flown with 4 ECR, 2 IDS and 4 F-16; as the two IDS returned quickly to base I assume that the ECR were fully loaded with bombs and to get them of the ground they departed not with the full amount of fuel, but took that fuel on in the air over the sea from the two IDS. However that is what I make of the reports - factually I do not know if the two IDS were used as tankers. [[User:Noclador|noclador]] ([[User talk:Noclador|talk]]) 18:56, 21 March 2011 (UTC)

LG Neo's participation in Timor Leste

Your source says he participated in Timor Leste in 2000. Ng Yat Chung was CDF from 03-07, and the East Timor operations during the time of Ng's CDF appointment only began in 2002. Anyway, this article is about the position of CDF. LG Neo's training (or any of the other CDFs, for that matter), shouldn't be mentioned in the article. However, important command positions they have held whilst CDF should. Strange Passerby (talkcontribsEditor review) 17:00, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It's late, and I have to get some sleep. I'd urge you not to restore the disputed content until after a discussion has properly taken place, either here or, if you'd like, at WP:Third opinion. Either way, let me know, but please stick to the idea of WP:BRD and not reinsert the line. Thanks, Strange Passerby (talkcontribsEditor review) 17:05, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
You can't "urge" me just because it's late on your site. I beleive you first placed the face of the role of the CDF and this mentioned operations during his service. "Role" is duty. Operations are NOT duty. I will remove all information regarding role. And my source is more trustworthy because it is conduct by a reseacher in a credited think tankOther dictionaries are better (talk) 18:12, 19 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Just because you disagree with it doesn't mean you can remove three paragraphs worth of pertinent information regarding what past CDFs have done while in office, I'd argue that amounts to vandalism. I'm restoring the information under a new subheading to more clearly distinguish it from the main "role", but if you remove it again I will be forced to bring the issue up to a wider community discussion as you can't just remove well-sourced information like that. I have asked User:Dank, an admin who is part of the military history project, to mediate. Strange Passerby (talkcontribsEditor review) 01:32, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have been advised by User:HJ Mitchell to offer a compromise. Would you be okay with inserting the information about LG Neo's East Timor participation in a new column under "Notes" in the table? Also, just generally, instead of putting bare URLs into ref tags, would you mind filling them out with the appropriate {{cite}} template, or at least type out "[http://www.example.org Link text], additional text." (which produces Link text, additional text.)? Strange Passerby (talkcontribsEditor review) 04:53, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Let's keep CDF's role to CDF's role--his designated assignments as per any parliamentary or legal documents. I don't know so much know how as you alter references but I provide relevant ones beyond MINDEF (which can be biased) URLs. And thr section CDF's since 1990 states their current jobs--nothing at all about their roles or performances.Other dictionaries are better (talk) 09:00, 20 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]
