Etymology
From Middle Persian [Book Pahlavi needed] (kyl /kēr/, “penis”). Cognate with Khotanese [script needed] (kūra, “membrum virile”), Northern Kurdish kîr (/kīr/), Central Kurdish کێر (kêr /kēr/), Zazaki kîr (kīr) and Northern Luri کێل (kıl). Note also Middle Armenian կլիր (klir).
