From Proto-Sino-Tibetan *ku (neck; throat) (STEDT); compare Chepang गुक् (throat) (Schuessler, 2007). Also compare Proto-Mon-Khmer *kɔʔ (neck), whence Mon ကံ (kaʹ, neck), Khmer (kɑɑ, neck), Vietnamese cổ (neck) (Schuessler, 2007).
