[edit]From Proto-Turkic *boguŕ/*bokur-dak (“throat, Adam's apple”).[1] Ultimately from Proto-Turkic *bog- (“to strangle”). [2] Cognate with Turkish boğaz, Crimean Tatar boğaz, Turkmen bogaz, Chuvash пыр (pyr) etc.
