Een gratis en open source vectortekenprogramma. Het biedt een scala aan functies en wordt alom gebruikt voor zowel artistieke als technische illustraties zoals cartoons, clip art, logo's, typografie, diagrammen en stroomschema's.
      Er worden vector illustraties gebruikt voor haarscherpe afdrukken en weergaven op eindeloze resolutie, zonder de beperking van een vast aantal pixels zoals bij rasterillustraties. Inkscape gebruikt standaard SVG als voornaamste bestandsformaat. Dit wordt ondersteund door vele andere applicaties, inclusief webbrowsers.
      Inkscape ondersteunt veel geavanceerde SVG features (markeringen, klonen, alfa blending, etc.). Veel zorg ging naar het ontwerp van een gestroomlijnde interface. Het is zeer eenvoudig om knooppunten te bewerken, complexe  padoperaties uit te voeren, bitmaps over te trekken. We beogen een actieve gebruikers- en ontwikkelgemeenschap door middel van open, gemeenschapsgerichte ontwikkeling.

Genius is a general purpose calculator program similar in some aspects to BC, Matlab, Maple or Mathematica. It is useful both as a simple calculator and as a research or educational tool. The syntax is very intuitive and is designed to mimic how mathematics is usually written. GEL is the name of its extension language, it stands for Genius Extension Language, clever isn't it?
