MORNING...

* WHAT...Dangerous rip currents.

* WHERE...In Alabama, Mobile Coastal and Baldwin Coastal
  Counties. In Florida, Escambia Coastal, Santa Rosa Coastal and
  Okaloosa Coastal Counties.

* WHEN...Through Saturday morning.

* IMPACTS...Rip currents can sweep even the best swimmers away
  from shore into deeper water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Swim near a lifeguard. If caught in a rip current, relax and
float. Don`t swim against the current. If able, swim in a
direction following the shoreline. If unable to escape, face the
shore and call or wave for help.

...HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK IN EFFECT THROUGH THURSDAY MORNING...

* WHAT...Dangerous longshore with embedded rip currents expected.

* WHERE...Kenedy Island, Willacy Island and Cameron Island
  Counties.

* WHEN...Through Thursday morning.

* IMPACTS...Longshore currents can push people quickly up the
  shoreline, well away from their entry point. Embedded rip
  currents can keep even the best swimmers from being able to swim
  back to shore.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...South to north longshore currents will be
  dominant through tonight. Warm surf temperatures...at or above
  80 degrees...are warm enough for most swimmers to enter the
  water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If you are not certain of your swimming ability, only venture into
the surf to knee deep. If caught in a longshore current, swim
back to shore in the direction of the waves. Don`t swim against
the current. If unable to escape, face the shore and call or wave
for help.

  night. For the High Surf Advisory, until 8 PM EDT Thursday.

* IMPACTS...Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and
  localized beach erosion. Rip currents can sweep even the best
  swimmers away from shore into deeper water.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

High surf will affect the beaches in the advisory area, producing
localized beach erosion and dangerous swimming conditions.
Swimmers should remain out of the water due to large breaking
waves and dangerous surf conditions.

Rip currents are powerful channels of water flowing quickly away
from shore, which occur most often at low spots or breaks in the
sandbar and in the vicinity of structures such as jetties and
piers. Heed the advice of lifeguards, beach patrol flags and
signs.

Entering the surf is strongly discouraged. If caught in a rip
current, relax and float. Don`t swim against the current. If
able, swim in a direction following the shoreline. If unable to
escape, face the shore and call or wave for help.
