Copying from serial monitor

using the latest download of ide2
I'm trying to copy and paste from the serial monitor -
but any lines that go off the screen are de-selected so I can not copy them.

is this a bug?

Try ctrl-A, ctrl-C

Doesnt work. Ctrl-A selects the code, not the serial o/p.

Yep, it's a known issue. Not sure, but possibly this report: Copy-pasting from the serial monitor only copies what's on the screen. · Issue #1710 · arduino/arduino-ide · GitHub

There are probably a few different open issues on this, including one I opened a while ago.

First check the links provided in earlier posts. If they don't indicate that it's solved, use a 3rd party terminal program.
