"Everything starts as an experiment, that way there isn’t any pressure, just play and exploration"
Daniel’s imaginary realist sculptures come to life through pure exploration - no pressure, no overthinking, just letting the materials lead the way. It’s so easy to get stuck in our own heads, overanalysing every idea and every step forward. But, when we treat the process as an experiment, creativity flows freely, and that’s when the magic happens. ✨
Daniel Morley, The Pale House on Folksy
Daniel’s journey into art took off after his 30th birthday when a copy of International Art magazine sparked the realisation that this was the path he was meant to follow. He spent the next few years teaching himself from traditional painting books, mastering realism for six years before breaking free from the constraints. Now, through The Pale House, he’s free to create without limits; exploring his strangest ideas, embracing the surreal, and letting his imagination run wild.
Say hello to The Pale House, our featured maker for February 😍
Artist Daniel uses imaginary realism to "explore a dreamlike house full of strange and beautiful things". Step into his shop and you are met with a world of imagination; an array of haunting and ethereal artworks where things aren't quite what they seem... To learn more about Daniel and his incredible pieces of art, check out our Meet The Maker interview over on the Folksy blog.
Advice for crafters from Yuliya Miller
Starting your own craft business? 🎨 Our featured maker for January, Yuliya, has some brilliant advice to share with you. 👉🏼 “Know your customer! Ask yourself, who is that person? Who will want to buy your product? Not only their age, gender and location, but their lifestyle, interests and values. That will definitely help you understand what to make, rather than trying to make everything.”
