Make colourful art using the abundance of leaves around at this time of year! This activity is a twist on the popular leaf rubbing activity with crayons that is great for little ones to do, particularly in autumn when it is so much fun to collect the colourful fallen leaves.

This is a super simple version of leaf prints using tempera paint sticks! It’s not too messy and really kid friendly. They come out pretty (or at least pretty interesting) almost always - making it a great process art project for young children!

The paint sticks used here are from @lovevery!

Follow these steps:
1- cover the back of your leaf with paint. Fresher leaves are more durable so I recommend using some you found recently. Try to paint all the way to the edges- use a scrap of paper as a work mat to contain the mess.
2- press the leaf onto a clean sheet of paper, flip it over and rub the paper firmly with your fingers. I tell my kids to do this until they can see the leaf’s veins.

Honey Hive Early Years on Instagram: "🌿🍂🍁🍃Autumn is officially here, we love collecting leaves and creating coloured leaf rubbings. What a game changer with these amazing tuff tray sized paper pads! Had to share from @earlyyearsresources - Leaf rubbing art. 🍁🍂

Go on a scavenger hunt and find different shaped leaves, then use wax crayons to gently rub over the leaves, revealing their intricate patterns and veins on the paper.
The variety of shapes and textures will make each piece unique!
