Amazing antique Oyster Plate with scalloped gold painted edges. The piece has beautiful purple violets hand painted throughout. It is marked on the back CFH BDM France. "CFH over GDM" on the back of a piece indicates that it was made by Charles Field Haviland in Limoges, France, and that the GDM stands for Gerard, Dufraisseix & Morel, a company that was acquired. There is a small chip on the back of the plate, near the rim. The plate is approx. 9 inches in diameter. If you are interested in purchasing more than one item, please message us. This is a gorgeous 19th century majolica platter in the Fern & Bow pattern, attributed to Banks & Thorley. The platter features pink flowers and green ferns tied with a blue ribbon and framed in a cartouche. The background features a beautiful basketweave pattern along with scrollwork. Shades of aqua, yellow and brown complete the look. Banks & Thorley produced earthenware, majolica and stoneware from 1875 to 1886, at the height of the Aesthetic Movement. About this item: This is a darling ceramic or possibly porcelain basket features a lovely blue and white floral design painted on the outside and inside of the piece. The paint has a natural "crackle" finish to it. Its very ornate handle and claw-foot base look to be a bronze-painted resin.
