Because it's so effective! I was never told this about my baby.. didn't know it until I was a doula for several years trying to soothe other people's babies. But I don't know anything that's more effective. One of the ways I love to use this is when Mom and baby are breastfeeding and baby is struggling and there are a lot of tears on both sides. I teach dads to ask if he can take a minute with the baby and do this hold. Then once baby calms down everybody takes a couple deep breaths before we start breastfeeding again.
