what is Companion

This app allows nearly endless possibilities to control other things with physical buttons (special keyboards like Stream Deck, X-keys, … or custom keyboard, or virtual buttons displayed on touch screen.
There are integrations with Home Assistant, ESPHome, Shelly, Tasmota, … you can set up custom HTTP requests, …

My use case is to control things in HomeAssistant via Stream Deck (or MiraBox - cheaper alternative from Aliexpress) connected to Raspberry Pi Zero 2W.

• Yes, there are some alternatives - but there are desktop apps and not server with webUI and those apps are very limited compared to Companion - they support only few devices - for example only devices "Stream Deck" from Elgato.

What makes your requested software better than the above solutions, if available?

• it's open source
• it has support for Raspberry Pi already, so it should be optimized for RPi
