This month (August 2020), cdnjs served over 188 billion requests. 🖥
This month, cdnjs used a massive 3.39 PB of data to serve these requests. 📤
That's over 109 terabytes of data and 6.1 billion requests each day (averaged). 🤯
In August, each request to cdnjs (on average) used only 18.01 KB of data. 🔍
Library highlights
This month, the top five individual resources requested on cdnjs remained the same, with WebFontLoader
(webfont/1.6.28/webfontloader.js) leading the way at over 6.5 billion requests for the file.
This is up once again from last month, where WebFontLoader only saw a round 6 billion requests in the month,
resulting in an 8% increase in requests this month when compared to last month.
Remaining in second place was jQuery (3.3.1/jquery.min.js), with its 5.17 billion requests, a slight increase on
last month's 5.12 billion requests for the resource.
Across all files in the top 100 resources, jQuery came out as the most popular library this month, once again, with
11 files for 11 different versions in the top 100, generating a total of 12.9 billion requests in August.
With jQuery being the most popular library overall again, FontAwesome also remained the second most popular library
overall, generating 11.2 billion requests and consuming 361 TB of bandwidth.
GSAP was once again in third place for the top library overall (based on the top 100 resources), with 16 different
files accounting for over 10 billion requests during August.

Top 5 Resources
Total number of requests
The first important stat that we are given is the total number of requests sent to cdnjs.cloudflare.com.
Cloudflare provides this number to us at a 1% sample for the whole month, giving 1,902,323,503 at 1%.
This is 190,232,350,300 when multiplied up to 100%.
We are also given a number of requests for 3 days at a 100% sample, which is 17,653,395,016.
This is 182,418,415,165 when recalculated for the 31 days of August.
To provide the best possible estimate for the entire month, an average of both numbers will be used to generate the
estimate for the final number of requests for the month (75%: 1% month sample data, 25%: 100% 3 day data).
This results in cdnjs serving approximately 188,278,866,516 requests in August.
Over 188 billion requests or approximately 6.1 billion requests every single day of August. 📈
The total number of requests overall was slightly down this month compared to July, where we had 190 billion. However,
per-day this works out to a very small decrease, with cdnjs still seeing 6.1 billion requests per day, the same as last
month (down from 6.12 to 6.06 billion per day). Once again, this is very similar to previous months where we've seen
per-day requests at between 6.2 and 6.1 billion.
Total bandwidth usage
Another great stat that Cloudflare has given us again is the bandwidth usage for the cdnjs.cloudflare.com domain.
This number, like total requests, is provided at a 1% sample for the month and in gigabytes: 34,607.89 GB.
This is 3,460,789.0 GB or 3.46 PB when multiplied up to be 100%.
Additionally, a 3 day 100% sample is given by Cloudflare at 307,842.97 GB.
This results in 3,181,044.0 GB or 3.18 PB for the month.
As with the total number of requests and due to the significant difference between the two, both numbers will be used to
calculate an average for the final estimate of bandwidth consumed this month (75%: 1% month sample data, 25%: 100% 3
day data).
This produces the estimate of 3,390,852.8 GB of bandwidth used for this month by cdnjs.
This gives cdnjs a massive bandwidth consumption of 3.39 petabytes of data for requests this month. 🤯
As with the total requests to cdnjs this month, there was a slight dip in the total bandwidth consumed, down from 3.46
PB to 3.39 PB. The decrease in bandwidth didn't exactly match the dip in requests though, resulting in the average cdnjs
request going from 18.22 KB to 18.01 KB. Whilst lower than August, this bandwidth consumption is still higher than any
previous month before that, with only 3.24 PB consumed in June.
Top 100 requested resources
These are provided at a 1% sample for the whole of August.
Bandwidth is measured in gigabytes.
This data, as well as previous months' data, is available in the SQLite data.db file.
